Chapter 14: Training

The walk to Saffron City was mostly silent. Both Sentoki and Kimyona were a little mad at Hikaru, not for making them go to the cave but for the scolding Misty gave them for going in. They soon forgave her when she reminded them that they also went on their own. Even after they forgave her, the walk was still silent. After awhile, they decided to take a break; a break that was also quiet.

"This awkward silence is so... awkward,' Hikaru thought to herself, 'Since it's like this, I might as well teach Charmander about Storytelling.' She got up, took Charmander out, and walked to a secluded spot. On her way out, Sentoki stopped her.

"Where are you going?" he asked.

"Training," she replied nonchalantly and left.

"Training? What does she have to train for? She doesn't battle," Sentoki said.

"I'm not sure but training does seem like a good idea," Kimyona said while taking out her Weedle, "Wanna do a practice battle with me?"

"You're on," He said, smirking, while taking out his Eevee.

"This spot looks good, don'tcha think Pichu?" Hikaru asked.

"Pichu, pi," It replied in return. Hikaru turned to Charmander as Pichu got off her head.

"Alright Charmander. This is where your training to be a Storyteller starts. Are you ready?"

"Char, char!" It said with passion in his eyes. Hikaru proceeded to take out Vulpix. This caused Charmander to be very confused.

"Vulpix is a fire-type, just like you. It's gonna teach you its Flamethrower technique on how to create those images. But be warned, Vulpix is a perfectionist and failure won't be an option."

Vulpix stared down at Charmander. It could feel an evil aura emitting from both Hikaru and Vulpix as it heard them chuckling to each other. Shivers went down its spine. It knew that it wasn't going to have an easy time training; Not at all. Thus, Charmander's spartan training began.

"Charmander!" It cried so loudly that even Sentoki and Kimyona paused a moment from their battle to question what Hikaru was doing.

The only move it was allowed to use was Flamethrower; Over and over again.

'Charmander isn't used to using it. That's why his technique sucks,' Hikaru observed, 'Then again, it hasn't been in an official battle before. My other Pokemon have been thoroughly trained at the Daycare Center so they're practically pros. Then again, the battles were out of short tempers with each other.'

"Vulpix, come here." Charmander was grateful for the break and Pichu knew it. Pichu began cheering Charmander on because it experienced the same training. No. It experienced harder training because it was the first Pokemon to learn this technique in electric form. After comforting Charmander, it began to tell it what was going to happen next: a Pokemon battle.

This surprised Charmander greatly. First using a move he isn't used to, then getting criticism from the high and mighty Vulpix, and now a Pokemon battle? Charmander might as well write a death note.

"Pichu, come here. You're going to be on Vulpix's team. Charmander, I'm going to command you." A sympathizing Pichu and a confident Vulpix on one side and a nervous Charmander on the other. Then the attack took place. Vulpix came straight in with Fire Spin. Charmander just barely dodged it.

"Charmander, use Ember on Pichu." Embers shot out of Charmander's mouth to Pichu's direction. Pichu dodged it by jumping up high. It countered with Double Team.

"Shoot all of them with Flamethrower." Flames hit all of the Pichus but not the real one. Double Team was just a decoy. While Charmander was attacking, Vulpix secretly made a hole using Dig that lead behind Charmander. When Charmander realized all the images were fake, the real Pichu used Shock Wave in the hole and electrocuted Charmander.
