Chapter 24: Celadon Gym

Hikaru had yet another sleepless night. Thoughts of how to explain everything kept her up. It was noon and they were heading to the gym. The funny thing was that Sentoki didn't ask about her conversation with Yellow like he said he would.

'I bet he's trying to teach me a lesson,' Hikaru thought as she looked at Sentoki and Kimyona walking in front of her, 'He's probably waiting until I snap and yell and he's going to go all hero and be like 'you brought this on yourself. You shouldn't have kept it a secret.' Please, there's nothing wrong with me keeping a secret. It's a pretty big secret too.' Hikaru sighed which caused her companions to give each other troubled looks.

"What's up with Hikaru? She's been like this since we left the Pokemon Center," a concerned Kimyona asked Sentoki. Sentoki was about to tell her about the conversation last night but was interrupted by Pichu giving a pep talk to Hikaru. He decided to keep quiet until a better time to tell Kimyona.

"So what Pokemon are you guys going to use?" Hikaru said. Kimyona and Sentoki looked at each other and smiled when Hikaru said this in her usual preppy manner.

"Since she's a grass-type user, I'm going to use Arcanine for sure. I also wanna try using Pidgey. I was gonna use Kakuna but all it can do is Harden," Kimyona explained.

"As for me, I'll of course use Berserk," Sentoki said confidently.

"But one Pokemon shouldn't be enough for a gym," said Hikaru.

"Yeah so I'll use Grovyle also."

Once at the gym, the gang saw Erika already ready for them.

"I've been waiting for you three," Erika said, "As a thank you for putting out the fire, I'll reward you with a gym battle with me." She took out a Victreebel.

"Mind if I go first?" Kimyona asked Sentoki.

"Be my guest," he replied as he went to the bleachers with Hikaru.

Kimyona took out Arcanine.

"This will be a 3 on 3 battle. Victreebel! Use Leaf Blade!"

Arcanine jumped and dodged it and followed up with Flamethrower.

"Nice hit!" yelled Sentoki.

Victreebel tried to use Leaf Storm on Arcanine but he simply countered with Fire Spin. The leaves were burnt and Arcanine finished with ExtremeSpeed.

"Victreebel is unable to battle!"

Erika switched to Vileplume as Kimyona switched to Kakuna.

"Really? A Kakuna? Whatever. Vileplume, use Stun Spore!"

"Harden!"

Kakuna deflected the attack.

"Hmm....try SolarBeam!"

"Harden."

Kakuna deflected it and started to evolve into Beedrill!

"Perfect timing!" yelled Hikaru.

"Beedrill! Fury Attack!"

Vileplume shot back, unable to move.

"Use String Shot!"

Vileplume was tied up and then Beedrill finished with Poison Sting.

"Amazing," said Erika.

"Thanks. I'm still ready."

"Alright. Exeggutor!"

"Pidgey!"

"Exeggutor! Egg Bomb!"

Pidgey flew up and used Sand Attack.

"Sand Attack, eh? It lowers accuracy but it seems powerful against Exeggutor since it's a ground type move."

Exeggutor was running around since it couldn't see.

Kimyona took out her Pokedex and read Pidgey's moves. All it knew were Tackle and Sand Attack.

"Pidgey! Keep using Sand Attack!"

Exeggutor kept running around and missing its attacks. Pidgey swooped down and used Tackle on Exeggutor's legs, knocking it over. Pidgey then came from above and used Tackle once more, making the Exeggutor faint.

"Wow. Here's your Rainbow Badge!" said Erika as she walked over to Kimyona. She went up as Sentoki came down and into the battlebox. He sent out Grovyle. After healing her Pokemon, Erika came back and used Vileplume.

"Petal Dance!"

Leaves began to go towards Grovyle. Grovyle quickly used Bullet Seed to destroy the leaves. He then jumped at Vileplume with a Pound attack. Vileplume dodged it by moving over but Grovyle spun around and hit it with a Fury Cutter. Vileplume began to spin around due to dizziness. Grovyle used DragonBreath and knocked it out, making Sentoki win the first round.

"Impressive."

Erika switched with Exeggutor and it tried to hit Grovyle with Psyshock. Grovyle dodged it and was nearly hit with a Wood Hammer attack. Grovyle escaped into the trees, camouflaged within the leaves. Grovyle dove down at Exeggutor and landed on the leaves on its head. The Exeggutor was struggling to get Grovyle off. Grovyle was holding on with all its might. Grovyle bent his head over and used Bullet Seed onto Exeggutor's head. Exeggutor fell onto the ground and Grovyle jumped into the air and used Fury Cutter, fainting Exeggutor.

Erika smiled as she switched Exeggutor into Victreebel.

"Grovyle, you've had enough come back," said Sentoki as he switched to Berserk.

Victreebel started by trying to smash Berserk with multiple Leaf Blades. Berserk dodged them all and used Focus Blast, hitting Victreebel right in the face.

Victreebel looked at Berserk and screamed with anger.

"Nice one!" shouted Hikaru.

Berserk smirked and began to run around Victreebel. Suddenly, Victreebel used Vine Whip and grabbed Berserk. Just when Victreebel was about to use Swallow, Berserk used Ember and blinded Victreebel. Berserk escaped into the trees and watched Victreebel try to shake the fire out of its eyes. Berserk risked its final move by using Body Slam. The heavy impact made Berserk faint but Victreebel was still able to fight. Berserk was returned as Grovyle let himself out and used Fury Cutter. Victreebel's eyes closed and it fell over.

"Gro...vyle."

Sentoki jumped into the air and ran towards Grovyle. Kimyona and Hikaru ran down and surrounded Grovyle.

"That was awesome," said Kimyona.

"It was amazing how Grovyle let itself out to finish of the battle."

With that, Berserk came out.

"That was awesome, Berserk."

Berserk looked at Grovyle, smiled, and nodded at him. Grovyle looked back at Berserk and patted him on the back. Berserk was thanking Grovyle for helping him with the battle. He also told him that he did great. Erika walked over to them and gave Sentoki his Rainbow Badge.

"Your Fury Cutter was great," said Erika.

"It was," agreed Sentoki," and for that, I'll call you Tabak."

"What does that mean?" asked Kimyona.

"Its Filipino for sword."

They left the gym and got ready for their next destination: the Cycling Road!
