"The past? I can't believe I'm in the past!" Hikaru said, practically hysterical. Pichu and Celebi were trying their best to calm her down. "Where are we exactly? I hope we're not that far back in the past."

Something got hold of Pichu's attention."Pichu, pichu!" exclaimed Pichu, pointing at a cool looking boy heading toward a nearby town. He was a few years Hikaru's senior and had some Pokeballs with him.

"He must be a trainer," Hikaru said, "Come on, let's go follow him." Pichu and Celebi gave each other a reluctant look but decided to follow her since they had no other ideas.

They followed him, stealthily hiding behind trees and bushes along the path. Suddenly the boy, along with Celebi, disappeared from sight. Then a giant hand picked Hikaru up from the ground. When she turned around she realized she was picked up by a Machamp. "Hey, you've been following me around this whole time. What do you want from me?" said the boy who she was following, appearing behind Machamp.

"S-so this is you're Machamp?" Hikaru said nervously. Sparks started to appear on Pichu's face, getting ready to attack. "Pichu, stand down."

"That's right, Now I'm going to ask again; What do you want from me?" he said again, this time more sternly.

"I mean no harm, honestly. It just seemed like we were following you because we're also heading to that town," Hikaru said.

"What's your name?" he asked.

"When asking for someone's name, it's the polite thing to say yours first," she said with a smart tone in her voice. The boy just stared at her. She finally gave in. "Hikaru, my name's Hikaru. Um, could you let me down?"

"Machamp, release her. My name's Blue," he said as Machamp gingerly placed Hikaru on the ground.

"Blue? As in Blue Oak, a Pokedex Holder of Kanto and grandson of Professor Oak?" Hikaru asked excitedly.

"...Yeah." Blue responded.

"Wow! I can't believe I'm meeting an actual Pokedex Holder! Pichu, look. I have been wanting to be a Pokedex Holder since forever! It is such an honor meeting you. And it's Blue. I heard stories of how you, Red, and Green saved Kanto and Johto from Team Rocket and how you were petrified and how you combined your powers with the other Pokedex Holders and saved Hoenn," said the fangirling Hikaru.

"...Thank you," Blue said, a little surprised by her sudden boldness, "Would you like to meet the creator of the Pokedex?"

"You mean, you're letting me meet Professor Oak himself?" she asked, eyes sparkling.

"Yeah, I was already heading in there in the first place. I'm sure he won't mind meeting a Pokedex enthusiast," he said slyly.

"Did you hear that Pichu? We get to meet Professor Oak! If his lab is here, then we must be in Pallet Town. Pichu, we're in the Kanto Region," she said squealing.

'She's a strange one, that girl. She's most likely a traveler. She seems to have potential. That Pichu of hers looks well trained. Grandpa might even give her a Pokedex, if she's worthy that is. But it seems as if she's hiding something,' Blue thought as he led Hikaru to Professor Oak's lab.

His thoughts were interrupted by Hikaru. "Blue, the lab! It's destroyed!" Half of the interior of the lab was ruined. Bits and pieces of furniture and paper scattered on the floors. There was also a large, melted cage in by the entrance.

"I know. My grandpa called me over to help him clean up. Team Rocket must have done this," Blue said convinced.

"Blue!" cried a voice from behind them. Hikaru and Blue turned around and saw Professor Oak running towards them.

"Grandpa, you're alri-" Blue was cut off by Hikaru.

"Oh my gosh! It's the actual Professor Oak! It's so nice to finally meet you."

"Blue, who is this girl?" Prof. Oak asked.

"My name's Hikaru, a Pokemon trainer. My dream is to get a Pokedex and go on the adventure, like my parents," she said, answering for herself.

"Like your parents? But the oldest of the Pokedex Holders is 19." Professor Oak asked.

"We can talk about Hikaru another time. Did Team Rocket come over here?" Blue said.

"Yes, but they weren't after me," the Professor began.

"What do you mean?" Hikaru asked.

"There was a boy here. His name is Sentoki, a young Pokemon trainer around that girl's age and the son of a close colleague of mine. Their aim was him."

"Where is he right now?" Blue asked.

"I gave him a Pokedex and he went on a journey to get stronger, defeat Team Rocket, and save his parents. He won't stop until he accomplishes his three goals. I also do remember him saying this word-for-word: 'I won't stop at nothing to find them. If Team Rocket gets in my way, I'll take them down, one by one,"' the Professor said.

"That boy sounds like he has a heart. However, with Team Rocket rebuilding, someone needs to go with him. If Team Rocket wants him, he'll have a better chance surviving if there was someone helping him on his journey. I would go but I have the Viridian Gym to attend to," Blue said.

"I'll go," Hikaru said shyly. "If Blue can't go then I'll help this Sentoki kid."

"But young lady, I just can't ask you for such a favor," Professor said, trying to decline but Blue stopped him.

"Let her go, it's better if he travels with someone his own age," Blue said.

Prof. Oak stared at his grandson. "Alright. I'll let you go. Here, you'll need these." He took out a red Pokedex and a Pokeball from his lab coat pocket. "I'll give these to you on one condition: tell me what you mean when you said 'like my parents'."

Hikaru hesitated for a bit. 'Should I tell them? But it's Professor Oak and Blue,' she thought. "Ok, I'll tell you." She said, "But you must keep it a secret."

Blue and the Professor looked at each other and agreed not to tell anyone. So Hikaru told them her story on how she got here.

"Amazing," Prof. Oak whispered, "You're from the future. And you're the child of two Pokedex Holders. You're my great granddaughter!"

"I'm not sure on that exactly. I lost my memory when I was younger and I don't remember my parents. I only know that they're Pokedex Holders because of the stories my care takers told." Hikaru explain.

"I see. Well if you're possibly Blue's daughter then you have the right to get this Pokedex," Professor Oak faltered for a moment, "But Hikaru, are you sure you want to do this? Don't you want to go back to your own time?

"I do but I don't know where Celebi is. If I can't have my adventure in my time then I'll just have it in the past. Besides, I might be able to find a way back if I travel around Kanto," Hikaru said confidently.

"Well that settles it. If his aim is to get stronger then Sentoki would challenge gyms. HIkaru, head to Pewter City," Blue advised. The Professor gave her the Pokedex and Pokeball as Blue was talking.

"Thank you so much," Hikaru said. She placed the Pokedex in the back pocket of her burgundy shorts and release her new Pokemon from it's Pokeball and out came a Charmander. "Charmander, I'm Hikaru and this is Pichu. We're going to be traveling together so let's get along okay?"

"Charmander! Char!" Charmander replied happily. With that, Hikaru waved to Professor Oak and Blue and followed a sign labeled PEWTER CITY.

"To think she had such a story to tell," Blue said as he and the Professor watched her head her way.

"Yes. Tough challenges will befall her and Sentoki but I believe that they will get through it together." Professor said with a smile. "After all, she is my great granddaughter. Now help me clean up this horrible mess. I have new trainers coming in later and I want to make a good impression on them."

"Possible great granddaughter," Blue said as he bent down to pick up a ripped book.
