Chapter 8: Storyteller

"Pichu, Charmander, isn't this exciting? We're gonna go on an adventure!" Hikaru said as she walked on the route leading to Pewter City. Pichu and Charmander nodded in agreement.

"Well anyways, Charmander: before we go any further, you should meet the others," Hikaru tossed 4 Pokeballs in the air and out came her other Pokemon. "Okay you guys, this is Charmander. He's gonna travel with us for now on so treat him kindly."

"Char, char!" Charmander said obviously excited meeting more friends.

"Charmander, this is Vulpix, Absol, Riolu, and Zorua," She said, pointing each one out as she said their name. "Hey everyone, let's welcome Charmander with a story, shall we?" Everyone responded with their noise and they got to business.

"Charmander, you wait there while we get ready."

"Charmander?" It said in a curious tone while following directions. Charmander was trying to see what was going on in the huddled group.

"Okay! Ready!" Hikaru called out toward it after a few minutes of quick planning. The Pokemon stood in front of their only audience member as Hikaru stood on the sidelines, narrating.

"The god of fire..." As she said said that, Vulpix used its Flamethrower and in the Flamethrower, an image appeared. It was a Pokemon that resembled a phoenix.

"...god of lightning..." Pichu used Thunderbolt and a bird Pokemon with spiky feathers appeared.

"...and god of ice..." Absol used Ice Beam and the image of yet another flying type bird appeared.

"...must not be touched," The images in the Flamethrower, Thunderbolt, and Ice Beam flew around each other, came together and disappeared upon contact.

"Else, heaven and earth will be angered and the world will face destruction," Zorua's Night Daze was used and a city engulfed in flames and chaos surfaced.

"The god of the sea..." Riolu used Aura Sphere to show the silhouette of what looked a combination of a dragon and bird Pokemon.

"...will appear to stop the destruction," The silhouette of the Pokemon flew over to Zorua's setting from Night Daze.

"But, it will not prevent the world's destruction," The bird Pokemon from the Flamethrower, Thunderbolt, and Ice Beam headed toward Night Daze as Riolu's bird Pokemon image from Aura Sphere disappeared.

"Unless an exceptional trainer appears to calm the wrath of the gods...," Riolu used Aura Sphere once again to show a trainer riding the silhouette of the last Pokemon it showed going toward the image created by Vulpix's Flamethrower, Pichu's Thunderbolt, Absol's Ice Beam, and Zorua's Night Daze. All the bird Pokemon commenced into battle with the trainer was the center point. Then the images vanished, ending the story.

Hikaru looked over at Charmander, whose eyes were sparkling in delight. She didn't even have to ask if it liked the performance.

"Did you know that in my hometown I'm known as a Storyteller? All my Pokemon and I grew up on stories that my care takers told me and I was inspired by them. Do you know why?"

Charmander shook its head.

"It's because the stories were about my parents. My parents were Pokedex Holders and I wanted to be just like them. That's why I'm helping Professor Oak. It might sound a little selfish but I really want to meet them. Telling these stories to others makes me feel like they're with me," Hikaru had a sentimental look on her face as she was talking. She looked at Charmander.

"Hey Charmander, do you wanna be a Storyteller too?"

"Charmander, char!" It said happily, obviously accepting the offer.

"Alright, we'll teach you when we meet up with Sentoki in Pewter City," she said as she returned Vulpix, Absol, Riolu, and Zorua into their Pokeballs. Pichu climbed up to Hikaru's head with Charmander following by her side.

After walking the route further, they finally reached Pewter City.

"So this is Pewter City, huh?" Hikaru said, "Let's go explore the town to see if Sentoki's here." She started to go but stopped suddenly and asked Pichu and Charmander "What does Sentoki look like exactly?"

Charmander gave her a look that says 'You went looking for him without knowing what he looks like?', Pichu on the other hand was used to Hikaru's ditsy nature and pointed out the Pokemon Center.

"Oh, a Pokemon Center. Maybe I can call Professor Oak and he'll send me a picture or something. Thanks, Pichu," Hikaru said heading toward the building. Once inside she walked to the PC and contacted Professor Oak.

"Hello?" She heard Professor Oak say as his face appeared on the screen.

"Professor. Hi. It's me, Hikaru."

"Oh, Hikaru! How's your journey going? Did you find Sentoki yet?"

"Um, about that... Can you send me a picture of him or a description? I don't know what he looks like."

"That's quite problematic. Let's see, from what I can remember, he had some sunglasses and a blue jacket and blue bag. I think he also had a blue bandanna of some kind."

"Got that. Thanks, Professor. This will make it so much easier finding him."

"You're welcome. One more thing. I sent a package to the Pokemon Center. I forgot to give this to you. It's for you, Sentoki and another trainer named Kimyona; you should be able to get to Pewter City at the same time both of them do. They're gym badge cases."

"Thanks Professor but sending me a gym badge case is a lost cause."

"What makes you say that?"

"I'm not one for battling. I'd rather watch and tell about it to others."

"I see. But still, I would like for you to keep it. Think of it as a thank you gift for doing this. You can also challenge gyms if you change your mind."

"Thanks but I doubt it. I'll hold on to it though. Well, I have to go now. Bye, Professor."

"Good luck, Hikaru. Give my regards to Sentoki when you see him."

"Will do." And with that, Hikaru hung up. She headed over to the front desk and Nurse Joy gave her the package. There were three cases, a red one, a blue one, and a green one. 'Now that we have these, we better start looking,' Hikaru thought to herself.

She left the Pokemon Center and started to wander. After about 15 minutes she found herself by the gym. She saw two people heading toward the gym, a boy and girl. The boy had Oakley shades on and a blue bandanna, just like in the Professor's description.

"That must be him. That's Sentoki." Hikaru said to Charmander and Pichu as she ran toward the duo.
