Lil superfruit ref in here.
It's bittersweet to see this come to an end. This has been a very wild ride with you all and I couldn't thank you enough for joining me. Three chapters left :): Enjoy it, my loves.
1 year later
"She's done." Mitch says, looking over to his fiancé with an enormous grin on his face. "No, I'm done!" He yells. Scott tilts his head to the side in confusion. "Mrs. Carmichael. She said there was nothing else t-to teach me." Scott covers his mouth his hands, running over and hugging Mitch, lifting his feet off of the ground. Mitch wraps his legs around Scott's waist, his head collapsing into the crook of his neck.
"I'm so proud of you, baby." Scott whispers and pecks Mitch's cheek. Mitch had done it. He had finally learned how to speak fluently again. Of course he'd still stutter some, but that was nothing compared to this major milestone.
One thing, Mitch has given up on names. After Kirstie's, he knew he couldn't learn them. It took him so many years to learn one name, he didn't want to do that for every person he knew. He would die before finishing. So he just left it. Scott was a little upset at his request, but just simply nodded and agreed with him. Names were just too much of a struggle.
Mitch leans back a little, some tears falling from his eyes. He pecks Scott lightly.
"I can talk again." Mitch whispers. Scott even cried a little himself. He nods and pulls Mitch in for another kiss, holding this one for a little bit longer.
"I knew you'd be able to." Scott whispers back away pulling away from the kiss. "I always knew. Everytime you told me it was hopeless, I never agreed. You aren't hopeless and you never will be."
"God, I'm marrying someone way to sweet for me." Scott chuckles. "You'll kill me with your kind words."
"Kill em' with kindness, baby." Mitch nods and pecks his cheek.
"I'm so proud of myself." Mitch says and chuckles.
"Celebratory sex?" Scott asks jokingly, raising an eye brow at Mitch. Mitch playfully hits Scott's jaw before pushing him into their shared bedroom, eager for some action.
---------------------
Mitch hasn't done a piece for CAI in a long time, so he was excited to start another piece of work. Rod said it needed to be done in two weeks. That was doable. It didn't exactly need a theme or subject to it, so Mitch started by sketching random lines, hoping they'd form some type of figure that was recognizable.
He looks down at it. It wasn't forming anything. He adds more lines, taking his pencil and dragging it off of another line. He'd curve some, make others straight, occasionally make some zig zagged. He smiles. He had no idea what he was making but he liked it. It was unique and outspoken, lines everywhere creating small shapes and patterns.
He feels arms wrap around his shoulders from behind and a pair of lips peck his jaw, right under his ear. He leans back and pecks Scott.
"You're so unbelievably talented." Scott whispers in his ear, giving Mitch the chills throughout his whole body.
"Thank you." Mitch says smiles widely. "Can you believe that Kirstie is pregnant? I'm so happy for her." Mitch says, changing the subject.
"I am too. She really deserves a family to settle down with after everything." Mitch places a finger over his lips.
"We don't speak of it, love." Scott smiles and nods. "But seriously, what are we going to her her for the baby shower? It's next week."
"Can we go simple and buy a baby blanket or something? Maybe a few binkies?" Scott suggests. Mitch drops his pencil and his jaw drops.
"I am not 'going simple' for my best friends baby shower! We go hard or go home, babe!" Scott laughs, holding his hands up as a surrender. Mitch ends up laughing as well and walking into the kitchen. "You stress me out." Mitch jokes, grabbing a box of chips and taking them to the couch. Scott follows closely behind, sitting next to him and throwing his arm over Mitch's shoulders. He uses his other hand to then on the TV and change the channels.
"I'm happy we got to move in together. You made me wait so long." He laughs.
"You literally made me cry and moved out. It was your turn to deal with living without me." Scott shakes his head with a grin.
"But we weren't together when I moved out. We were fucking engaged when I wanted to move back in."
"We've been engaged for over a year. It's not new." Scott laughs and pecks Mitch's cheek.
"It's weird to think that we've been engaged longer than Kirstie and Avi have even been boyfriend and girlfriend." Mitch chuckles. "I'm sorry, but after Avi told me everything, I couldn't look at Jeremy the same, even if he did change."
"I haven't looked at him the same since he did it. I've known him a lot longer than you." Scott nods.
"Can you tell me about high school, before I got there?"
"Confusing." Scott laughs. "Intimidating. Kirstie and I our freshman year were a mess. Finding Avi, Kevin, and Esther was the best thing that could've happened to us."
"And me."
"You asked before I met you, dumby." Scott jokingly mocks him. "I have a question for you. If we are doing a throwback night to high school, what was your first impression of me."
"Oh god." Mitch rolls his eyes and smiles. "I thought you were really, really cute and immediately wanted to get to know you better. As soon as I found one that you couldn't talk, I wanted to get to know you a whole lot more. What about me?"
"I thought you were Kirstie's boyfriend." Mitch laughs. "I was so confused because she told me that Jeremy and her were having issues so I figured they broke up and then you came strolling along and were like hugging her a lot. I don't know, you didn't seem gay to me. Then I started talking to you and that ALL changed."
"Damn, drag me!"
"You literally would non-stop flirt with me!"
"I know. Because I looooooove you."
"Shut up, dumby. I love you too."
