1 year later.
Two figures sat up on the cliff. There was silence between them but it wasn't awkward.
"Walt?"
"Hmmm?"
"You have that look on your face right now." Nat smirked referring to Walt's famous look.
"Really? I swear that wasn't what I was thinking about." He laced his fingers with Nat's and she giggled.
"Just saying Walt,"
"Okay." A silence resumed them again.
"Spit it out." Nat commanded, her happy mood now gone.
"Spit what?"
"Whatever's on your mind."
"There's nothing on my mind."
"Well then what are you thinking about?" Nat was certain there was something he wanted to ask/tell her but he didn't have the courage to.
"You." He winked and she had to hold herself together.
"Walt seriously," she begged and he took a deep breath.
"Well, I was thinking about how to give you these..." He pulled out two tickets from his jacket pocket and fanned them out. Nat wanted to kiss him silly right there. His ways never changed. She let herself press a kiss to his smirk and he responded immediately. Before things got too heavy, she pulled away and whispered,
"Yes."
"Good. Because I actually bought a tux."
"No way."
"Seriously." Nat let out a low whistle. Walt never took official school events seriously. The only time she had seen him take any official events seriously was when there was work party.
"I have something to tell you too. I know we promised, it's just that Gran got really excited and I didn't wanna let her down you know, I was so happy and-"
"Nat... What are you talking about?" Walt frowned. Nat rambling wasn't very often.
"This." She pulled out a folded paper from her bag and showed it to him. Walt's eyes scanned over it. Only three words registered: Harvard, accepted, scholarship. He let out a breath he didn't know he was holding.
"I am so freaking proud of you." He wrapped her in a hug and she burst into happy tears. Harvard was no simple thing. Her 180 L-SAT score had paid off.
"I'm going to Harvard, Walt." She whispered into his skin and Walt felt shiver go down his neck. That essentially meant Nat would move to Boston, right? Walt felt his mood sink a little. His mind hen drifted off to his own college letters.
"Well, I don't have news as impressive as you." He let go of her and faced the town again. She noticed his posture and wrapped her arms around his.
"Did your letters come in?"
"They came in, yea. They don't have good news though." Nat rubbed her hand over his arm. "I got rejected everywhere."
"Everywhere?" Nat blurted out. She immediately recoiled and started apologising. "I'm sorry-"
"I got in one place on sports scholarship." Walt interrupted her.
"That's great. Where?"
"NYU. Apparently when their scout came last semester, I impressed him. So that's where I will be attending next fall. Their letter came in later after all of them though." There was still the whole summer but Walt could predict the next words out of Nat's mouth.
