~Castiel~
After my conversation with Crowley, I flew back to Sam and Dean's apartment. When I arrived, Sam and Dean were nowhere to be seen but Sam's bedroom door was shut so he was possibly sleeping.
Ironically, after standing there for roughly five minutes, Dean returned from wherever he was.
"Cas", he acknowledged me with a small smile, "You've gotta stop that, man".
"Stop what?" I asked.
"Disappearing on me!" Dean replied.
"I'm sorry", I apologised truthfully and then noticed his hands, "Why is there blood on your hands?"
"Demon's blood", Dean answered, "Some asshole tricked me so I turned the tables on her instead".
"Where's Sam?" I asked.
"He should be in his bedroom", Dean glanced at his door, "Although he said he'd only be a couple of hours. I'd better check and make sure he hasn't gone since I left".
Dean walked over to Sam's bedroom door and I followed behind him. He opened the door to reveal Sam who was awake, sitting at the end of the bed and adjusting a bandage to his arm. Through the bandage, a red liquid seeped through. Sam jumped when Dean opened the door but seemed to calm down when he saw it was only us. Who else was he expecting?
"Sammy, what happened?" Dean rushed over to him, inspecting his arm.
"N-nothing", Sam stuttered, "I, uh, left my knife in my bed and forgot. I can barely feel anything. It's fine".
Dean gently yet forcefully touched Sam's arm and he flinched in pain.
"Sure, you can barely feel anything", Dean shook his head, staring at Sam with concern and then he turned to me, "Cas, can you heal him?"
I nodded and walked over to Sam but then paused when I was halfway across the room. It was then that I remembered my powers were fading. Maybe...maybe I could still heal people. If I could still fly, surely I could still heal. Well, there was only one way to find out.
I continued walking towards Sam and I pressed my two fingertips against his forehead and tried to heal him. Nothing happened. I tried again desperately but Sam's arm still remained wounded. I removed my hand with shame. I didn't even want to look Dean in the eyes.
"Cas, what's going on?" Dean asked.
"I-That's...strange", I pretended to be surprised, "It's not working".
"Why?" Dean looked at Sam then back at me.
"I don't know", I lied, "But...Sam, if you injured your arm on your bed then how come there isn't any blood on the mattress?"
Sam glanced up at me with his puppy eyes and I immediately felt guilty for changing the subject to something he clearly didn't want to tell us just so that my secret was safe.
Sam didn't even attempt to make up another lie. To be honest, he looked completely done with everything at the moment.
"Sam?" Dean asked, his eyebrows forming in the shape they always made when he was worried.
"I need to go", Sam stood up quickly.
"Wait!" Dean tried to stop him but Sam went to the door all the same, "Where are you going?"
"I'll be back in the morning", Sam muttered as he was halfway through the doorway.
"Sam!" Dean yelled, speedily walking out of the bedroom.
But he was already gone.
