Dean slammed the door before turning to face me in his bedroom.

"What the hell, man?!" Dean snapped.

"Dean, I'm sorry. It was before this morning", I apologised profoundly.

"But you said you wanted people to know!" Dean argued, "I thought you hated lying. Damn it, Cas!"

"It's not like you were going to be telling Sam anytime soon like we agreed", I said stiffly and Dean looked at me questioningly, "What was that about in the car? You got all quiet when Sam asked what we were doing all day. I knew it. You don't want people to know because you're ashamed".

"Didn't you listen to anything I said this morning?" Dean started yelling but soon lowered his voice in case Sam heard, "I want to tell people, I really do. I just...panicked".

"Panicked?"

"Yes, Cas, panicked", Dean said sarcastically, "It's a well-known word that means someone freaks the hell out about something".

"I know what it means, Dean", I snapped with annoyance.

"I'm sorry, okay?" Dean threw his arms in the air with frustration, "I bailed. I couldn't tell him. I screwed up just like I always do. You might as well get a pre-warning now so you can just get yourself out of this before you end up hurt".

Dean still had anger in his voice but his eyes had sadness written all over them. I stayed quiet so Dean continued speaking.

"I'm not good at this, Cas", Dean stressed, "The main reason why I was holding back with you all these years is because I was afraid of me being the reason that something bad happens to you. It always happens to everyone else I let myself...Just whatever. You should just leave. I'm not the guy you should put your trust in. I just want you to be safe and that's impossible when you're with me".

I watched Dean carefully and he looked hopeless and full of self-hatred. I didn't hesitate before I walked over to him and kissed him passionately on the lips. I pulled back with my arms slung around his neck.

"You think I care?" I asked him with a slight comforting laugh, "Dean, we have and always will be in this together. You don't protect me, I don't protect you. We protect each other. Besides, do you really think I would go down that easily?"

Dean mouth turned up into a smile and he lifted my chin upwards so he could kiss me back softly.

"No, I know you would be able to take down anyone who laid a finger on you", Dean laughed and shook his head, stroking a lock of hair away from my face.

"That's because I'm different from any other partner you've ever had", I said with a smug smirk.

"Alright, don't get cocky", Dean pulled my hips closer to him playfully and planted a quick kiss on my cheek.

Dean pulled back but his grip on me was still tight and protective. Dean looked at me for a few seconds and it looked like he was thinking carefully and considerately about something. I stared curiously back. Dean inhaled deeply before confirming whatever it was with himself as if he was making a big decision.

"Do you know what?" Dean asked with a grin, "We'll tell him".

"What?"

"We'll go and tell Sam", Dean confirmed, "Right now".

"Are you sure?" I asked.

"Not at all", Dean replied truthfully, "But I don't want to hide anymore".

I smiled at him appreciatively and Dean spun me around and grabbed my hands to lead me to the door.

"Hurry up", Dean ordered, "Before I change my mind!"
