~Lucifer~

"You and Sam are official then?" Gabriel asked with half intrigue and half boredom as he slouched against a chair.

"Not exactly", I told him truthfully, "It's a complicated situation. He's definitely more confused than I am".

"Huh", Gabriel nodded to himself with interest, taking a large bite out of a randomly-spawned chocolate bar.

I watched him chew with his mouth open uneasily.

"Angels don't eat, you know", I reminded him, finally stopping myself from pacing around the room and sitting on a chair opposite him.

"Angels also don't fall in love with hunters", Gabriel retorted.

"I'm not falling in love with him", I scoffed at the idea but found my mocking grin soon fading.

"We'll see", Gabriel raised his eyebrows suggestively and I rolled my eyes in response.

"I still can't get used to the fact that you're actually here", I shook my head, changing the subject.

"Well, get used to it, sweet brother of mine", Gabriel smirked sarcastically, rocking his chair backwards childishly and almost falling off at one point, "'Cause I'm going nowhere".

"I believe you", I commented.

A small comfortable silence passed between us as Gabriel shoved the rest of the chocolate in his mouth happily.

"So, Luci", Gabriel spoke, his mouth full, and grinned when he saw my irritated expression.

"Can you swallow first?" I groaned with annoyance, squirming in my seat at the sight.

Gabriel gave me a mock-apologetic look before holding his hand to his chest and swallowing dramatically.

"Better?" Gabriel asked and I tentatively nodded, "So, back to Sam".

"Come on", I moaned, not wanting to talk about it.

"No, no, we're having this discussion", Gabriel argued humorously but then his face turned mature, "Seriously. All joking aside, how do you actually feel?"

"Gabriel, I don't-"

"Lucifer, you're gonna", Gabriel interrupted me, "It's what brothers do, right? You know, talk about their feelings".

Gabriel sang the last four words jokingly.

"Yeah, because we really do have the healthiest sibling relationship in the world, don't we?" I asked with sarcasm and slight seriousness in my tone.

"We're not exactly playing Happy Families, I'll admit that", Gabriel admitted, still with a joking tone of voice, "But we're okay, aren't we? You forgave me, I forgave you. We're good again, right?"

"Sure we are, Gabriel", I gave him a genuine nod of  reassurance but still couldn't help but feel a tinge of sombreness inside because really it could never be the same as it was.

"I approve of Sam", Gabriel told me, "And I've never known you to actually like a human being before. Listen, I know this is gonna sound gooey but I really want you to be happy someday. All in all, you've not had the best life previously and it would be good for you to do something that makes you happy once in a while".

I stared at him, feeling half stunned and half touched. I gave him an appreciative smile and, for one second, we actually shared a real brotherly moment.

"Besides, what kind of guy would I be if I didn't help my brother get laid?" Gabriel added, the smirk returning to his face.

"And he's back", I sighed to myself, laughing.

"Alright", Gabriel suddenly stood up and brushed the imaginary dust off of his jacket, "I've gotta run. Business needs doing".

"Let me guess", I started, "You're gonna go and put someone else in Groundhog Day?"

"I didn't done the nickname Trickster for nothing", Gabriel winked at me before clicking his fingers and vanishing.
