Chapter 8

~Today~

Julian

- Were you again with her ?
Vanessa asked coming closer to me.
- I bumped into her Vanessa, stop acting like that.
I said while I watched Lila hugging Thomas and then getting inside his car. What the fuck was going on between them ?
- Julian I don't get what's wrong with you lately. You don't want to get engaged and you flirt with any random girl you meet ?
Vanessa said being furious.
- Do you want anything else mr. Draxler ?
Lila's friend asked me. She was still near us and I bet she heard the whole conversation and I also bet that she's going to tell Lila everything.
- No, thank you.
I said and she left while Vanessa gave her the death stare.
- How many are they ?
Vanessa asked impatiently.
- Stop it Vanessa. Since when are you that jealous ?
- Since now. Don't you see it Julian ? They know who you are and they want some attention and maybe something more.
Vanessa said rolling her eyes.
- You drive me crazy Vanessa.
I said and I turned to leave but she stopped me.
- We are getting engaged. Don't you dare leave.
She said and I obeyed.

The ceremony was worse than I ever expected. I was supposed to make it as a surprise while Vanessa pretended that she had no idea. A lot of reporters were there and Vanessa kept saying that I organized it as a surprise and that she had no idea. Bullshit. But the stupidest part of all was that they believed her. Kim congratulated both of us and for the first time in my life I wanted to kill Vanessa more than I wanted to kill her. My teammates were there congratulating us as well. But I didn't pay attention at none of them. I was thinking of her. What was she doing now ? Why didn't she work tonight ? She said that she did. What happened ? What kind of relation had she with Thomas ? I knew that I should answer to all of these cause I really was about to explode. And then I saw her friend. I could ask her. She wouldn't refuse answering. I could pay her if she did.
But I shouldn't let Vanessa see me talking with her.

Later and after dancing with Vanessa I told her that I should go to my room to call my parents telling them that I got engaged.
- Why you should tell them ?
Vanessa asked.
- I think they should know.
Okay I know that it was the worst justification I could find but I had to go to my room call the room service and ask Lila's friend to come.
- Okay if that's what you want.
She said ignoring me but I saw her heading toward Kim and whispering something while looking at me.
Kim looked also at me and smiled.
I ignored them. I walked to my room. I call the room service and I ask the receptionist -Lila's friend- to come by herself and I also ordered something so for her not to understand anything.
After a while I heard a knock on the door.
- Come in.
I said and Lila's friend appear in front of me.
- Oh, mr. Draxler. Do you need to serve anything downstairs ?
She asked surprised that she saw me in my room.
- No, thank you....
- Meghan.
She said blushing.
- Meghan.
- I'll leave the food here. Do you need anything else ?
She asked ready to leave.
It was now or never.......
- Well actually there's something I need to ask you.
- Yes, sir.
She said smiling.
- That girl -Lila- is a friend of yours ?
- Yes, sir.
- And do you know her a long time ?
- Since she started working here. Four years now.
- Right.
I said smiling and in an attempt to make her feel more comfortable.
- Anything else ?
She asked. Well yes, but.....it was my only chance.
- This guy....is a friend of hers ?
I asked referring to Thomas.
- You mean Thomas ?
She asked and I felt like an idiot asking a receptionist about the girl I was in love with since high school.
- Yes, he's just a friend.
- Does she date anyone else ?
I asked and then I realized what I said.
- No, from what I know.
Meghan said and before I was about to go on with the questions the door opened and Vanessa came in. She looked angrily first at me and secondly at Meghan.
- Thank you Meghan.
I said and she left closing the door behind her.
- Really ?
She asked screaming.
- Vanessa I can explain...
- You told me that you are calling your parents and you....
- And you are spying on me ?
I asked getting mad.
- Of course not Julian. I came to inform you that our guests are leaving and that you should come and thank them or whatever.
She said rolling her eyes.
I looked down. No need of fighting with her.
- I ask Meghan to bring some food for us. To be the two of us.
I lied in an attempt to calm her.
Vanessa looked at the food and then at me.
- Oh, Julian why didn't you say that earlier?
She asked hugging me. I'm not sure that she believed me but I had to do whatever in order to.
- You didn't gave me the chance.
I responded calmly.
- I'm sorry baby.
She apologized kissing me.
- Let's go to our guests first.
I said leading her out of our room.

It was late at night. I woke up. Vanessa was sleeping beside me. I woke up because of a dream. I dreamt of her. Lila was the girl I was madly in love with. I could give up on everything just to be with her. But then I looked at Vanessa. I couldn't. I couldn't make her sad. Cause I loved her. I learned to love her but not in the way I loved Lila. It was different. I can't believe I saw her again after so many years. I had thought of it so many times but I always thought that it was impossible. But I was mistaken. It wasn't. If only I had insisted to be with her when she left me. Because she left me. Okay I know she moved but then again she didn't want to try and save our relation.
And I had always accused her for that. She didn't love me enough to try.
Vanessa had the filmmaking these days so we could stay for a couple of days. But what would happen next ?
I couldn't lose her again. Not now that I found her. I know that I should do something but I didn't know what. I always dreamt of a manager that would help me and that I could trust but of course I couldn't trust Kim. I had to think of something.

The next morning while having breakfast with Vanessa I was searching for Lila but she was nowhere to be found. Why wasn't she never at the hotel in the morning ? The thought of what could possibly had done the previous night was driving me crazy.
- What are you thinking ?
Vanessa asked touching my hand.
- Nothing.
I replied smiling.
- Julian, I love you okay ? I want you to tell me everything that bothers you.
She said honestly.
- Okay Vanessa. I'm sorry for the last couple of days. There's something going on with the team.
- Is it serious ?
Vanessa asked.
- No, of course not.
I replied smiling.
- I have to work this afternoon.
She said and I nodded.
- We won't spend the afternoon together but Kim will be here.
- Great.
I replied sarcastically.
- You should try get along with her.
Vanessa said smiling.

Vanessa left like she said and I waited at the lobby for Lila to come. I tried to do something so not to stare at the door all the time but I just couldn't.
After a while both Lila and Meghan came discussing something whispering. Lila's expression was shocked and I thought that maybe Meghan told her about my questions yesterday. I wish she did. And maybe I was right. She looked at me and then looked immediately away being embarrassed.
I didn't know what to do. I wanted to talk to her. But I had no idea what should I say. I was staring at her the whole time and both her and Meghan noticed it. Meghan winked at her a couple of times and Lila finally looked at me smiling.
I smiled back like a total idiot. Maybe I was.
I headed to the reception.
- I need to talk to you.
I said touching her hand. She nodded.
- I think we have some things to talk about.
She said smiling.
