Chapter 18

~Today~

Julian

I woke up the next morning not knowing where was I. I looked around not really recognizing the room I was in and then I saw Lila sleeping peacefully beside me. I smiled while looking at her and I kissed her forehead while she was still asleep.
I found my underwear and my jeans wearing them and I headed to Lila's kitchen wanting to make breakfast for her just to surprise her.
While I was cooking I was looking at her appartment. It had nothing to do with her personality. The personality of hers that I knew. Lila was a girl that combined everything with colour but her appartment was way too classic for her taste.
And then it occured to me. I didn't really knew her. A lot of things have changed since we were in high school. She wasn't the same person anymore besides I could see the happy Lila I knew being sad and moody.
While thinking of these my phone rang. I checked it seeing that it was Vanessa. I checked again to see that Lila was sleeping and I pick it up.
- Hey, baby!
Vanessa's voice was extremelly happy.
- Hello Vanessa. How are you ?
- Pretty good actually. What about you ? How was your trip to Wolfsburg ?
She asked and I looked around.
- It was good.
I answered carefully. The last thing I wanted was Vanessa to understand where was I. Cause the truth is I never intended to head back to Wolfsburg but I lied both at her and at Kim and I also said to Kim not to follow me back to Wolfsburg and because she really had fucked up with my bussiness lately she obeyed.
On the other hand I lied to Lila yesterday when saying I had broke up with Vanessa because it's not true. I can't just break up with her and all these thanks to my manager Kim and to Lila that left me a lot of time ago. And that's why I couldn't let her leave again.
- I already miss you Julian.
Vanessa said and I rolled my eyes. She was always exaggerating although I knew she was speaking the truth.
- I've missed you too.
I whispered so for Lila not to hear me if she was awake.
- I hope to finish with this movie early enough so to come back as soon as possible.
She said referring to her new film.
- Yeah, I hope you do.
I said closing my eyes. I felt guilty lying at both of them, after all they had feelings.
- I can't wait to see you again Julian.
Vanessa said and Lila appeared in front of me wearing my t-shirt -most probably doing it on purpose-
and I couldn't concentrate at what Vanessa was saying anymore.
- Yes, me too.
I responded absent minded staring at Lila. I touched her face with my fingers and she kissed them like she did yesterday.
- I feel way too lonely here....
- I've got to hang up.
I said and Lila looked at me confused.
- Oh, okay. Sure.
Vanessa said and I could hear she was surprised by my sayings.
- I'll call you later.
I promised just to make it easier for her to hang up.
- Okay. I love you.
Vanessa said waiting for my answer.
- Me too.
I responded and I know Vanessa was dissappointed by the answer.
- Bye.
She just said and she hanged up immediately most probably being mad at how cold and distand I was.
I looked at Lila who was looking at me confused.
- Just a professional call.......
I explained although she never asked.
- It's fine. Are you cooking ?
She asked pointing at her kitchen.
- Yes.
I responded remembering that indeed I was.
- Then I'm lucky cause I'm way too hungry.
She said sounded like a little girl.
- Let me serve you your dish ma'am.
I said serving her and I insisted to taste immediately.
She did as I ordered and she looked at me surprised.
- You cook way too good. But I cook better.
She said making me giggle.
- I doubt it.
- You better don't. That's how I took the position in the hotel. My first occupation there was the cooker.
She said and as she remembered it the smile dissappeared from her face.
- You can prove to me how good you are.
I said kissing her forehead and she smiled again.
- Julian, I'm sorry for saying that but you better wear a t-shirt or something cause I want to eat and you distract me.
She said touching my abs.
- You wear my t-shirt.
I explained looking at her.
- And that's only because you didn't appreciate it earlier.
She said making me smile.
- You have an answer for everything.
I said and she looked at me serious.
- When I woke up today and you weren't there I thought you left or that I dreamt of last night.
She said making me look at her.
- And why did you do so ?
- I actually thought that you only spend last night with me just to left me like......
She hesitated.
- Like ?
- Like I did.
She said while tears were filling her eyes.
- I could never do such thing Lil. I can't hurt you like that.
I said touching her cheek.
- But I deserve it.
- You don't. You moved here you couldn't do otherwise.
I said knowing that this wasn't the whole truth. They moved here but Lila insisted that we should broke up. She never gave a second chance at our long distance relation no matter how much I begged her and after all that I felt alone and betrayed because even now Lila is the only girl I can think about.
- I'll better go change.
She said interrupting my thoughts.
- What for ?
I asked and she laughed.
- I work Julian if you have already forgotten that.
She said heading to her room.

- I'll miss you.
I said kissing her as she opened the car's door I rented since we came.
- You're always exaggerating. I only work a couple of hours.
She said but she was smiling brightly.
- They're not just a couple of hours but I'll overcome it since I had something that needs to get done.
- Bring your things in my appartment. You can stay there as long as you're staying here.
- Will do. Thanks.
I said kissing her again.
- See you.
She said exciting.
I watched at her as she entered the hotel. This would never work. Were we a couple now ? I had to take some decisions. I knew that it was her I wanted to be with but I couldn't hurt Vanessa besides it wasn't really my decision. Kim was always the one that decided everything for me and although I was complaining she never took me seriously. I hated this whole managing thing but I needed a manager and Kim was great at her job. At least I thought so.
I headed back at Lila's appartment leaving my things that were in the car all this time there and I called Vanessa.
- Hello ?
She responded immediately.
- Vanessa hi....I just called to tell you that I'm sorry for earlier. I had some stuff going on.
I said and I felt guilty as I speak the words.
- It's okay Julian. I understand.
She said but I don't think she meant it.
- So are we fine ?
She didn't answer immediately.
- Yes, sure.
She said and I felt awful. I should be clear with her. But things were so damn complicated.
- Anything else you'd like to say ?
She asked sarcastically.
- No, Vanessa.
I responded as calmly as possible.
- Great see you.
- See you.
I said and she hanged up first.
I closed my eyes. What was I doing ? I must be completely out of my mind. I don't really know why I'm acting this way. I want to be clear with Vanessa but then again why have I chosen Lila ? I mean except the fact that I was madly in love with her. She had already left me once without giving me any explanations. She could do it again. And then it was my club and my carreer I was risking.......I seriously had to head back to Wolfsburg. And I would do so. Just not immediately. I said that I need some time with Vanessa after our engagement but I think my time was starting to finish now. And I hadn't make up my mind yet.
