Chapter 20

~Today~

Julian

- What do you want us to do now ?
I asked kissing Lila's forehead while laying in her bed.
Lila looked at me with her big brown eyes.
- I don't know. I'm hungry. Maybe we can eat somewhere.
She said kissing my chest.
- Sure. I'm also hungry.
I replied while looking at her. She seemed better since two days ago that Thomas came and got us in big trouble. I hope that he's not coming back but I'm the one that should head back in Wolfsburg.

Lila and I arrived later at a small restaurant that she chose. I felt relieved that it wasn't a big attraction cause the last thing I wanted was paparazzi all over my head especially now that all media learned that I was officially engaged.
Lila and I were smiling and chatting and for a moment I forgot that I was playing with two women feelings and that I had to decide what to do sooner or later. Actually I had decided what to do since I saw Lila at the hotel reception, what I really meant was that I had to announce that to Vanessa. She would of course hate me because I already hate myself. Vanessa was always good with me and I completely failed to be good at her.
Lila on the other hand left me but I didn't even doubted coming back at her. The only problem was that I didn't know how to handle a long distance relation.
- Hey, Julian. You're not here.
Lila said touching my hand and smiling.
- Sorry.
I apologized smiling back at her.
- What are you thinking at ?
She asked looking at me with curiosity.
- It's the Wolfsburg thing I.......
- Don't say anything else. You've got to head back as soon as possible. I'll never forgive myself if you're carreer fails because of me.
I looked at her smiling.
- And what about you ?
I asked.
- I'll be fine Julian. I waited five years I can wait till.....
She hesitated not knowing when till was.
- That's the problem Lil. If I leave I don't know when I'm going to come back.
- Yeah, I know. They're tough.
- They're ?
- Long distance relations. They're tough.
She repeated and I control myself not to ask her how does she know that since she never tried one.
- I'll think of something Lil. Don't worry.
I reassured her although I really wanted someone to reassure me.

- I'll go shopping with Meghan. I'll be late.
Lila informed me as she was grabbing her bag and opening her appartment's door.
- Okay. See you later.
I said kissing her.
Lila left leaving me alone in her appartment.
I spend my time checking the flights to Wolfsburg. I know I should have been back a couple days ago but I couldn't. Things will be more complicated when Vanessa finishes with her movie because then I'll have to explain her what really happened and I don't think she would really like the explanations.
After almost three hours and while I was ready to take a shower the doorbell rang.
I panicked for a moment thinking that Lila took her keys with her so she couldn't be her. Then I thought that maybe it was Thomas.
I hesitated for a moment and then opened the door. I was shocked seeing Kim in the door.
She, on the other hand didn't seem surprised.
- Hello Julian. Can I come in ?
She asked sarcastically.
- What are you doing here ?
I asked trying to be calm.
- I could ask you the same.
Her brown eyes checked me out and by the look on her face I understood she was mad. Really mad.
- Kim, you've got to go.
- No. Not without you.
She replied smiling cunningly.
- What do you want ?
- Well, you fooled me when you said that you were going back in Wolfsburg. I believed you because I thought that nothing really kept you here. Apparrently I was mistaken.
- We can talk somewhere else. I don't want Lila to see you there.
- Don't worry about Lila. She'll be late.
Kim said making me look at her. How the hell did she know that ?
- Does Vanessa.....
- No. Do you think I'm a fool ? Well, actually you should think of that but my dearest Julian you're also a fool.
She said and the smile dissappeared from her face.
- How did you learn it ?
I asked because I understood that's what she wanted me to ask.
- Firstly because your coach asked me how long this engagement trip could last and secondly......
She took of some photos from her bag.
She gave them to me looking at my expression.
I closed my eyes not wanting to see them. They were some pictures with me and Lila, in the car, in the restaurant, walking in the street. But they were just photos.
- They're not in a magazine are they ?
I asked although I was thinking of it. How couldn't them be in a magazine ? Something was wrong.
- No, they're not and all these thanks to me Julian. I had to protect you. How would you feel if these photos were in all country's magazines ?
She asked scolding me as if I was a small child.
- You didn't show them to Vanessa. Did you ?
I asked still having doubts.
- Are you crazy ? Do you want your engagement to end ?
She asked and because I didn't respond she looked worryingly at me.
- I guess I owe you some explanations.
I finally said but she said no with her head.
- I don't need them. I made some research about Lila. I know about your love story in high school, and that she left with her parents and sister to leave here after........
She stopped when noticing I wasn't paying attention.
- Now you know why I did what I did. I need answers Kim and she's the only she can give them.
- No, Julian she's not. I know why she left you but I also know why she didn't give a chance to your relation and I can tell you but not now. We don't have time.
- What do you mean ?
- We're flying in Wolfsburg in three hours. Pack your things I'll wait for you.
I panicked and then realized why Kim chose this moment to visit me. She knew I couldn't stay here for more,  and three hours before the flight was the perfect moment for her to make me nervous knowing I couldn't decide.
- I have to tell Lila first.
I said in an attempt to make myself think straight.
- We don't have time Julian. She'll be late.
Kim said rolling her eyes.
- I can't leave without telling her.
I replied knowing that it'll cost her. Lila had always the feeling that I used her for revenge, that when I earned her trust I could leave her. That's why it was so important to tell her.
- Julian, please don't make this any harder. Look, before we arrive at the airport we'll go at the hotel she works.
- But she's not there.
- We'll talk to her headmistress. Trust me Julian.
She said and for the first time in my life I felt like trusting her. For the first time in my life I felt that she maybe had some feelings.
I nodded and I went to pack my things.
After coming back I saw Kim waiting impatiently for me.
- We can go now but first I need to leave something so for her not to misunderstand.
I said grabbing a paper and a pen.
《I'll call you when arrive. I needed to head back to Wolfsburg. I love you.》
I wrote and I checked it my eyes focused on the I love you part. I hadn't say that to her properly but I felt like it was about time to do it.
- Let's go Julian. We'll give the note to her headmistress.
Kim said and we left.

Fifteen minutes later I parked outside the hotel Lila worked. I looked at it while remembering the day I met her again after so many years.
- I'll be back in a minute.
I said while turning to leave the car.
- No, Julian wait.
Kim said looking at me.
- I won't be late Kim trust me.
- No, not that. It's better for me to go and give that to her headmistress. Whoever took these pictures is trying to subbotage your engagement. It's better for you to stay here.
She said and I looked at her. I know I shouldn't trust her but I also knew she was right. Someone was trying way too hard.
I gave her the paper and she took her bag,  went outside the car heading to the hotel.
She came back after some minutes and I looked at her.
- Is everything alright ?
I asked.
- Yes, Julian don't worry. Everything's under control.
