Lila

- Hope you're enjoying your staying.
I said smiling to a client that just came.
- You look....I don't know....like trying not to think of something.
Meghan said looking at me but she knew. Besides she saw me previously kissing with Julian.
- I'm fine Meghan. I just need to get some things straight.
- Thomas.
- No, Thomas has nothing to do with that.
- No, I mean Thomas came.
She said and I looked at the lobby seeing Thomas heading toward me.
- Hello, Lila, Meghan.
He said lookihg at both of us.
- Hi, Thomas.
Meghan said greeting him.
- What are you doing here ?
I asked and I sounded a little more offensive than I intended to.
- I told you that I was coming.
Thomas said looking sad.
Fuck.....things are not the way I wanted them to be.
- Yes, right but I'm working now maybe we could meet somewhere else.
I said trying to ignore him.
- Sure. How about picking you up tonight ? We can have dinner together.
And as I was about to deny I saw Julian coming. My intensions changed immediately.
- Dinner ? Too boring. We can have fun at your house Thomas tonight.
I said winking at him while I noticed Julian looking at me.
It was now or never. I should end things between us before it was too late.
- That's Lila I know. Can't wait for tonight.
Thomas said smiling.
And I can't wait to find a justification to cancel it.

I replied hoping I sounded persuasive.

Thomas said kissing my hand but my game wasn't over yet.
- Leaving so soon ? No way Thomas. I already miss you.
I said and I accidentally looked at Julian who rolled his eyes.
- Okay I can stay if you want.
Thomas said and I knew I had fucked up.
I looked at Meghan who obviously understood what was going on and saved me once more.
- You won't believe it Thomas. Cody doesn't allow guests today. I'm so sorry.
Meghan said and I looked at her trying to thank her.
- That's a shame. I'll see you later.
Thomas said leaving.
- You owe me your life.
Meghan said and I laughed.

I said and Julian came close to me.
- You never were a good actress Lila.
He said smirking.

I said avoiding to look at him.

He said again and I rolled my eyes. He could be so annoying sometimes.

- It's actually a shame Thomas. I couldn't believe it either that we had to work overtime today.
I said bitting my lip. Lies, lies and more lies.
- Yeah, I'll call you as soon as possible. Thanks for understanding. Bye.
I said hanging up. I'm used to lying these days.
- Do you want me to drive you anywhere ?
Julian asked coming behind me scaring me.

- Then I asked if you wanted me to drive you anywhere.

- I didn't know you're working overtime tonight.
He said and I blushed.

I said justifying myself.
- I believe you. Can I drive you anywhere ?

I rolled my eyes.
- I'm leaving.
I announced exciting the hotel after greeting Meghan. Julian followed me.
- Get inside my car. We need to talk.
He said being mad. I did as he said and we headed to my house.
- I told you Julian that we have to forget everything that happened.
- Can you forget ?
He asked and I looked down.
- Yeah, me neither.
He responded.
We arrived outside my house and I left his car and unfortunately so did he.
- Where are you going ?
- I'm coming upstairs with you.
I looked at him shocked.

I said sarcastically.
He rolled his eyes and of course he ignored what I said.
I unlocked the door and Julian looked around my appartment.
- It's beautiful. Another proof that you have a good taste.

I asked impatiently.
- Lila you owe me a lot of explanations and be sure that I'll take them.
- Things are way more complicated than I ever expected.
I admitted and he took my face in his hands.

And before I could finish my sentence he kissed me. He didn't stop until the doorbell rang surprising both of us.
- Are you expecting anyone ?
He asked looking at me.
- Not really.
I admitted but the thought of who might be made me wanna vomit.
I checked who was and I immediately panicked.
- What ?
- It's Thomas.
I explained.
- But I thought you cancelled your tonight's plans.
Julian said looking confused at me.
- We did. I don't know what's doing here. You better hide.
- Why ?
- What are you going to tell him ?
- Fine.
Julian said hiding to my room. I tried to relax and then I opened the door smiling brightly at Thomas who was looking confused at me.
- Hey, Thomas. I didn't expect you.
- I can see that.
He said searching my appartment with his eyes.
- Is everything alright ?
Thomas looked at me.
- I thought you said you were working overtime.
He finally said looking at me.
- Yes, that's what I thought but then Cody told me that I could leave since they didn't need me there.
I lied.
- And why didn't you call me ?
His words caught me by surprise.
- I....I didn't actually thought of it.
- Because it wasn't that important or because you had other priorities.
He said looking to my bedroom.

- Who are you trying to fool Lila ? I knew that you were lying from the very start and I waited outside your house and I saw....

It was the only thing I could say.
- Why didn't you tell me that you found someone else ? I've asked you a million times.

I asked relieved.
- Should have I ?
Thomas asked staring angrily at me.
- I'm sorry Thomas.
I said and he faked a smile.
- Anyways I'll leave. Don't waste your time with me.
He said heading to the door and exciting immediately.
I headed to my room. I opened the door finding Julian sitting at my bed.
- I'm sorry for that.
I said but he stopped me.
- I'm the one to apologize. I shouldn't have come here. It's that Lila. I don't know how to say it but......I'm still in love with you. Actually I never managed to forget you and when I saw you after so many years, I just wanted to be with you again.
- You mean that ?
- I....I love you Lila. I don't think I ever stopped.
I didn't respond. What could I say ? That I loved him way more than he could ever imagine ? I wanted to say that but I couldn't. There were things that Julian didn't know and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be happy to find out.
- I need some time to think of all these.
It was the only thing I managed to say.
- I know. Take your time. I'm leaving.
He said kissing my forehead, crossing the hall and exciting my house. I looked at the window thinking maybe that Thomas could be waiting outside just to see who was I with. But I couldn't spot him nowhere. I saw Julian leaving and I felt like vomiting. I didn't want him to leave. I felt so alone when he wasn't there. Right now I also felt confused. Julian wanted explanations and I know what he was referring at. But I couldn't explain. Because I knew that he would be hurt and I didn't want that. I loved him way too much to hurt him like that.
