Chapter 4

~Today~

Julian

- It seems like you talked with Kim.
Vanessa said entering the house.
- You too.
I said trying to be calm.
- I'm sorry baby we can change it if you want.
Vanessa proposed having already understood that I wasn't in the mood.
- No. It's fine Vanessa there's really not need to discuss it more.
I said heading to our bedroom.

The whole week I was absend minded, I couldn't even concentrate to the practise. My mind was the whole time at the Saturday's event. It's not that I didn't want to get engaged. I thought that it was too early for that. And I also didn't like the fact that Kim had decided again for me without informing me at all.
I tried my hardest not to show to the world and especially to Vanessa that I was in a really bad mood. I didn't want to dissappoint her. I knew that this thing meant a lot to her. And it meant also a lot to me. At least it should mean a lot to me.
- You're not here.
Sebastian commented as we headed to the changing rooms after practise.
- Really ?
I asked laughing.
- The whole week you are like that. What's bothering you ?
Sebastian asked and I looked down. No need of having secrets. He will learn it sooner or later.
- I'm getting engaged.
I managed to say.
- You what ?
- Shut up Sebastian.
I said looking around afraid that someone had heard our conversation.
- Okay Julian it's not a big deal. You and Vanessa have a relationship more than two years now. It was about time this happened.
I looked at him dissappointed. Neither him could understand how I felt.
- Yes, I guess you're right.
I said giving up. What else could I say ?
- You have more important stuff to think.
He said and I have to admit he was right. The match with Bayern was in two days. And it was way more important than an engagement, besides like Kim said it wasn't a marriage it was just an engagement. She just wanted it to be perfect. And so did I. Kind of.

I arrived home and to my surprise Vanessa was there.
And to my bigger surprise she had cooked a whole meal for both of us.
- Welcome baby.
She said kissing me.
- Vanessa....you cooked ?
I asked not able to hide the surprise in my voice.
She didn't cook often. She didn't have time.
- Well yes. I wanted to surprise you.
She said smirking.
- You made it actually.
I commented smiling at her.
- You see Julian, I think you overthink our engagement and I also think that you are not really happy with it.
She said and I looked down.
- I'm just anxious about the Saturday's game.
I lied.
- I'm glad it's only that.
She said although I wasn't really sure who was kidding who.

- Congratulations Vanessa. Your cooking just gets better and better.
I said not lying.
- Why thank you Julian.
She said smiling. I kissed her and I didn't let her.
- I have to clean here Julian.
She said giggling.
- We can do that later.
I said kissing her and leading her to our bedroom.

- Which dress is better for tomorrow ?
I heard Vanessa asking when I arrived home from training.
- The pink one. It so suits you.
Unfortunately I recognized Kim's voice. She was there again to help Vanessa.
- Julian you came. Tell us your opinion.
Vanessa said and I gave the death stare at Kim.
- The one you like the most.
I said avoiding them.
- Julian, a man's opinion is always....
- Okay Kim. The pink one like you said.
I said heading to our room.
- Julian wait...what happened again ?
Vanessa asked worried.
- Nothing. We are flying tonight Vanessa. I should pack some things.
I explained.
- I can help you with the engagement costume.
Kim said getting on my nerves. But I ignored her. I walked into the room locking the door behind me.
I hated her. But I had to stand her since she was my manager and since she was a friend of Vanessa. I started packing so not to think about tomorrow. I was so anxious about the match, about the engagement.
I had almost finish packing when I heard a knock on the door.
- Julian, it's me can you....
Vanessa said and I unlocked the door.
- Kim....
- She left.
Vanessa explained.
- Great.
I responded smiling.
- I don't like the way you act when she's here.
I rolled my eyes.
- Yes, you're right sorry.
I apologized.
- It's okay.
She said hugging me.
- We better hurry.
I said and she nodded.

The flight was endless. I never expected that a flight on the inside of Germany could be that boring.
Vanessa was checking her mails in her laptop. I looked at her. I have managed to love her all this time that we were together but she will always come second in my heart. And I know that this is stupid and unfair for her. Cause the truth is I had truly loved once in my life. Although I had to see her five years since she left. Since she left me. And I will never get over it. Over the fact that she left although I know that there's no chance of me seeing her again.
- What ?
Vanessa asked when she noticed me staring at her.
- Can't I stare at my beautiful girlfriend ?
I asked smirking.
- You don't fool me mr. Draxler I know that something's wrong and believe me I'll learn what.
- Everything's fine Vanessa.
- You act weird the last couple of days.
She said looking at me.
- I don't. That's what you think.
- I hope I'm mistaken because I don't like it when we have secrets.
She said smiling at me.
- I don't have secrets from you. You know that.
- I trust you Julian.

The flight was finally over and we were now in Munich. I didn't like the fact that I had to stay in a different hotel from my teammates but Kim said that it would be more impressive. If I could find another manager I would be really happy to fire that bitch. But I can't do it cause I know that I'll make Vanessa sad.
We went inside the hotel and a guy there took our luggages telling us to go to the reception and ask for our room.
- Wait, let me take a picture of the hotel.
Vanessa said and I rolled my eyes. She always did that wherever we went.
- I'm going to ask for the room.
I said heading to the reception.
- Okay.
Vanessa said completely ignoring me. I hated when she did that.
I arrived at the reception.
- Draxler...
I said and then I noticed her. It was her, I wasn't crazy. Her black beautiful hair that she always hated, her big, brown eyes avoiding to look at me but I couldn't avoid her.
- Lil is that you ? It's me Julian.
I said smiling.
- I'm sorry sir. My name is Lila. You must mistaken me with someone else.
- Right. I'm sorry.
I said heading to my room.
But I was right. I knew that. Besides Lil and Lila were always the same person.
- Julian wait.
I hoped it was her voice that was calling me telling me:
- Of course I remember you. How could I forget you ? I was in love with you. I still am.
But Vanessa was the one calling me.
- Why are you so hasty ?
She asked smiling at Lila.
- I'm Vanessa Taylor. Hope I'll be Vanessa Draxler soon.
She said whispering at Lila but she didn't really whisper since I was able to hear her.
Lila just smiled at her.
- Hope you make your dream come true.
She said and as Vanessa came toward me and we headed to our room I looked behind me and there was she.
She was looking at us. Lila was looking at us. And I knew that she remembered me. The way her eyes avoided me, the way she was looking at me now. She remembered. Besides why should she forget ?
