~Waiting is linked to depression, waiting for something that might never happen, can be mentally painful~
Today
Lila
I was standing outside Valerie's door and for the first time in my life, I was sure about what was I doing. Julian should still be there so I had to tell him what I came to tell him and make him understand that I have regretted everything that had happened and that I know that everything's my fault.
I knocked at Valerie's door, feeling bad that I only visited her to see Julian. My relationship with my sister had changed dramatically after she went to Manchester.
I waited impatiently until she appeared at the door. A smile was formed im her face as she saw me.
- Lila ? What a surprise, I've missed you, so much.
She said hugging me. I hugged her back still feeling bad about my behaviour. Valerie was always there for me but I can't tell the same about me.
- I've missed you too Valerie.
- Come in.
She said and I immediately obeyed. I went to the living room hoping that I would find Julian sitting on the couch but he wasn't. I started looking around the house, feeling panicked for some reason. Valerie came behind me and I found the courage to ask her:
- Are you alone ?
- Yes. Who should I be with ?
She was kidding me. Wasn't she ? Unless Cody was lying about what Julian said which I really doubt it.
- I thought that......
My voice cracked while I felt tears filling my eyes.
- What's wrong ?
She asked touching my shoulder.
- Nothing. I need to go. Sorry for disturbing you.
- You didn't disturb me Lila, you know that I will always be there for you.
I ignored her comment and I just asked what I had in mind all this time:
- Was Julian here earlier ?
I could feel the tension she felt, she played with her hair, nervously and looked away.
- No.
She said and I raised my eyebrows.
- No ?
I repeated.
- No.
She reassured me looking me in the eyes.
- How's that possible ? Why was Cody lying ?
I murmured to myself while making my way to the door.
- Where are you going ?
Valerie asked coming after me.
- I need to go back to the hotel. I need to find Julian. He's here you know, and I need to find him.
I explained and I almost forgot to breathe.
- How do you know he's here ?
Valerie asked trying to calm me down.
- He's staying at the hotel I work Valerie. I have to go. I need to talk to him.
- Lila, wait.
- What ?
- He left.
He said and I had a hard time realizing what she was talking about.
- What do you mean ?
I asked swallowing hard.
- He left. Julian left. He went back in Wolfsburg.
My hands started shaking.
- How do you know that ?
I asked trying my hardest not to burst into tears.
- Because, he told me....
Valerie answered looking away.
- You mean that he came here ? I knew it.
I said as if it mattered anymore.
- I wasn't supposed to tell you that.
- Why ?
I asked confused.
- He asked me so.
- I don't understand.
It was the only thing I managed to say before bursting into tears again.
- He didn't want you to know that he was leaving. He told me not to tell you anything, but since he's gone, I don't think that this matters anymore.
Hearing her talking like that made my heart fall apart.
- You should have told me earlier. Do you think I can catch him if I hurry ?
- I don't know.
- Valerie....
- I'm sorry Lila. He left about an hour ago. It's possible that he'll still be at the hotel.
She finally said and I nodded.
- Okay, thank you. What have you told him ?
I asked her and she just looked away.
- I told him what he asked.
She finally said and I rolled my eyes.
- And what did he ask ?
- Mainly why you left him.
- Perfect.
I said and I opened the door almost running outside.
I started walking hastily wishing that I could find a cab to drive me fast at the hotel. I had to catch Julian. I really had to.
- Lila!
Valerie shouted from behind me.
I turned to face her.
- What ?
I asked impatiently thinking that she was trying to make me be late.
- He's not mad. He's sad. There's a difference.- Keep them.
- Thank you ma'am.
The cab driver said as I didn't have time to take the change back.
I walked outside the car, and I fastly walked into the hotel.
Meghan was at the reception. She looked at me confused when she saw me.
I was like a crazy woman. I tried my hardest to be here on time but I had a terrible feeling that Julian had left.
- I need to see Julian.
I explained.
- Lila, wait.
- What ?
- He left.
- He did ?
- His room isn't booked anymore.
Meghan explained while sawing me the rooms that were still booked in the computer.
- I can't believe it.
I whispered, and I couldn't control my emotions anymore.
I started crying again and Meghan hugged me.
- Everything will be okay Lila.
- No, it won't. I need to talk to him. Please Meghan, help me!
- Lila, please calm down, okay ? Please. I'll do whatever you want. But don't act like that, Cody's going to fire both of us. I beg you, control yourself.
- I'm sorry. I just don't know, what to do. I need him here. I've got some things to tell him, Meghan. He needs to know.
- I know. I know. Just try to relax and I'll help you. You can't change the fact that he's gone now but I swear we'll find something. Just do me a favor please.
Meghan said looking me with her big blue eyes.
- Yes, sure anything.
- Contact with Thomas, he's worried.
Her words made me look at her. She had no clue what was really going on here.
- If you knew what Thomas did, you would never ask me to contact with him....
I said while my hands were starting to shake again.
- You don't know what Thomas did Lila. Because, he didn't do anything. He told me that you suspect him because he found the warnings. Of course he had nothing to do with them. You, know that yourself.
- He made you tell me these kind of stuff ?
- Of course not.
Meghan said but her voice wasn't that steady.
- Meghan, he's trying to fool both of us. I don't trust him. Not anymore.
- He has nothing to do with that Lila. You know it.
- No, I don't! And I'm pretty sure you don't believe him as well, cause you fucking know that I had never the warnings with me, you're trying to help him only because he's a friend of Robert's.
- These are all bullshit Lila.
- No, they're not.
I said while the tears were running down my face.
- Listen to me Lila, Thomas will do anything for you....
- Exactly.....but I don't care about Thomas. It's you that I don't understand.
I have had enough. I have ruined my life, myself because I always listened to what the others were saying. But not anymore. I was going to give an end to my relation with Thomas and I was going to contact with Julian. I knew that Kim's threatens were bullshit as far as Julian's carreer was concerned, because after all she's his manager and she would do anything for her client.
As far as my job was concerned I didn't actually give a damn. Being a receptionist was never what I had in mind. It was just something I had to do to support my parents when they had their financial problems.
If talking to Julian meant that I would lose my job, I didn't care. At least not anymore.
I don't know why Julian didn't want to tell me that he was leaving but I guess the answer is because he didn't want to hurt me. Because the truth is, he was always the one putting much more effort into our relation. And I was blind not to see that.
I whiped my tears away. I had made my decisions and I wasn't going to look back. Not now. I wasn't going to ruin Julian's wedding because he would hate me forever. But I was going to explain to him. He needed to know the story from my point of view.
