Chapter 28

~Today~

Julian

- Have you arrived ?
Sebastian asked me as I picked up my telephone.
- Yes, thanks. For everything.
I said taking my luggage and heading to the parking lot.
- Fortunately I made Kim not to come with us in Dortmund.
- I told you that you were going to be bored of her soon.
I replied smirking.
- I'm referring to you idiot. Although she'll understand that you're not with us if she sees the match.
- Till then I hope I'll have finish with my bussiness.
I responded and I found the car I had rent.
- Yes, why exactly have you head back to Munich ?
- I told you already. I had some bussiness to mind.
- That's interesting. I thought Vanessa came back.
Sebastian said and I could understand that he was trying to learn what the hell was going on.
- Yes, she did. I have to hang up.
I said in an attempt to distract him.
- Sure. I'll see you soon......I guess.
- Sure. See you.

About an hour later I was outside the hotel Lila was working. I was hesitating going inside in the beginning. What if she kicked me out ? Although I knew this wasn't even possible. She couldn't do such thing otherwise she'll be fired. I couldn't believe myself. I had organized this whole thing just to see her again and now I was acting like that. I made Sebastian convince Kim not to come with us in Dortmund so to see Sebastian playing. I also made him made clear to her that I was playing in the match with Dortmund although I wasn't even benched. Surprisingly Kim had believed everything Sebastian said.
Because she trusts him.
I thought to myself.
I could use that.
I opened my car's door understanding that there was no point of me just being in the car. I took my luggage and I entered the hotel. I firstly looked at the reception and I felt relieved seeing that neither Lila nor Meghan were there. I headed toward the reception finding another girl who checked my booking and informed me in which room I was.
Although I should have gone in my room I hesitated wanting to ask something. The girl looked at me smiling most probably having recognized who I was.
- Can I ask you something ?
I asked trying to play it cool.
- Of course mr. Draxler.
She said smiling even more brightly.
- When is L....I mean when is mrs. Johnson's shift ?
The girl looked at me while raising an eyebrow.
- Just give me a minute to check.
She said and looked a schedule in her laptop.
I looked around. The hotel was exactly how I remembered it but that shouldn't surprise me. I was there less than a month ago.
- Her shift starts at nine.
The girl informed me and I smiled.
- Thank you.
I said looking the clock at the wall. Nine. That meant less than three hours.
I head to my room. They had already brought my luggage there. I decided to take a shower and I know I should then eat something since I was starving. The problem was that the dinner in the hotel was served at nine exactly when Lila's shift was starting.
And I didn't want to bump into her. I had other plans.......

After having taken a shower and having stared at the clock and at the wall for a very long time thinking of what should I tell to Lila -although it wasn't necessary since I knew even earlier what should I tell her- I started walking in the room as every time I was nervous. I was afraid of Lila's reaction. She was avoiding me. I didn't know why but I assummed it was because she thought I left her. But even now that I came here with an explanation I was afraid of her reaction. I was afraid of her turning me down. I laid in the bed for a few moments. I was so tired. I couldn't help it. I closed my eyes and I fall asleep.

I opened my eyes trying to remember where on hell was I. Seeing the familiar from my previous staring walls I remembered what have happened. I looked at the clock. It was eleven. Perfect. Lila was already there. I only had to do as I had planned. Grabbing the phone in my room I called at reception.
- Reception here, how can we help you?
Lila's voice was soft. And I recognized it immediately. I could recognize her voice everywhere. I'm pretty sure that she could recognize mine as well but I didn't care much right now.
- I need the room service.
I said ordering some food since I was starving.
- Okay, sir. I'll say to serve you as fastly as possible.
- No. I need you to come.
I said and I was shocked at how desperately my voice was.
- Ex...cuse me ?
She asked and I think she was shocked.
- You've heard me.
I repeated steadily this time.
- I'm sorry sir......I can't do such thing I work at the reception.
She said with a shaky voice. She must have been afraid or something.
- If you won't come I'll complain to the owner of this hotel.
I said closing my eyes. It was the only way talking at her in private.
- I'll come immediately sir.
She said hanging up.
I cursed. I know I have scared her. Maybe she had experienced these kind of stuff before. It wasn't impossible that some ausshole liked her while staying here and then threaten her to come in his room and....and I felt sick thinking of this. If only I could be there for her when she needed me.
The knock on my door made me jump out of bed.
I knew Lila had arrived and I felt my stomach hurting.
I opened the door seeing Lila looking down while starting to say.....
- Here's your room......
She looked at me and her mouth opened in shock.
- Lila......
I said taking her hands in mine.
- What are you doing here ?
She asked looking around as if she was searching for something.
- I came to see you.
I said although I hadn't imagined our conversation like that.
- Are you alone ?
She asked.
- Yes.
I replied and I saw her relief in her face.
- Your voice sounded familiar but I thought I was crazy. I hear your voice everywhere lately so I thought that I was mistaken.
She explained avoiding to look at me.
I touched her chin forcing her to look at me.
- I own you an explanation.
I said staring at her lips.
Stop staring at her lips.
I thought to myself. It was the last thing I should do.
- You don't.
She said rolling her eyes.
- No, I do. I haven't left you Lila. I can't do such thing.
- But you have to Julian. I'm not the right girl for you. This will never work.
Her words caught me by surprise. I can't believe she said these things.
- Why don't you respond in any of my phone calls and why have you deleted all your accounts ?
I asked trying to avoid the previous conversation.
She hesitated a little avoiding my gaze.
- Because.....because I'm avoiding you. Because I have moved on with my life and you're not a part of it anymore.
She said biting her lip.
She's lying.
I thought to myself.
When biting her lip meant either that she was lying, either that she was nervous but I think she was doing both right now.
- You're lying.
I said out loud.
- I'm not. I'm with Thomas now.
- I don't believe it.
- It's the truth Julian. I'm sorry that you came till here just to listen to that.....but it's the truth. I don't have feelings for you anymore.
She said looking away.
- You don't ?
I smirked.
- No.
- Then prove that to me. Look me in the eyes and say that you don't have feelings for me and that you're happy being with Thomas.
Her mouth opened in shock again.
- No. You're acting childish.
- You don't do it because you can't lie while looking at me.
I said while lowering the distance between us.
She tried to back of but I grabbed her hand.
- Julian, leave me please. You'll cause trouble with my job and I don't want that.
- Stop denying what you feel Lila.
I said and I touched her cheek.
- I don't deny anything. I do have a relation with Thomas and all I want is you to leave me alone.
- I don't believe a word of what you say.
I said and I kissed her not leaving her an option but to kiss me as well.
