Chapter 24

~Today~

Julian

Lila's not answering her phone. It's always shut down. All of her accounts are deleted. I don't know if she did that because of me, because she wanted to avoid me or because something else happened. Although I'm pretty sure the reason is me. She regretted everything that happened, because she thinks that none of us can handle a long distance relation and I don't know. Maybe she's right. But I miss her. And I can't just let her leave again.
- Pick a suit.
Kim said making me choose between two almost identical suits.
- I don't know. This one.
I said pointing the one she had on her left hand.
- No, I think the other suits you better.
She said looking firstly at the suit then at me.
- Whatever.
I responded completely ignoring her. Our club was celebrating the 50 years anniversary and they had organized a ceremony.
I always hated these kind of stuff because they consist of endless speeches and seriously nobody is really interested. But I should go. I mean I don't have a choice. Ususally I go because Vanessa insists since she's a lover of these stuff but Vanessa's not here now. She's still at Munich being way too busy with her movie and she's not even sure when she comes back. So, I have to go with Kim, who was extremelly excited about it since she likes as well these things.
- Cheer up Julian, it's a celebration we'll go.
Kim said smiling brightly.
- You know that I hate these stuff.
I said rolling my eyes.
- And that's the most exciting part of all. I can't wait to see you being bored.
She laughed.
- It's late. Won't you go have your beauty sleep ?
I asked trying to calm down.
- Yes, you're right. I'll see you tomorrow. Don't be late and wear the suit I said. It's better.
She explained making her way to the door.
- Good night.
I said closing the door behind her.
I was now alone again. I felt so lonely that I wished Vanessa was here. I gave up trying to call Lila since I knew she was avoiding me. No need of lying to myself. I had to face it. All these days I spend a lot of time with Kim since she was trying to organize my wedding. At least she didn't ask my opinion about most of the stuff so I could ignore her easily.
Kim reassured me that Vanessa had no idea about our wedding and I believe her. In fact, it wasn't official yet so I think I had enough time.

Next day's training was as meaningless for me as all trainings these days. I had started to be a part of the team again but I had a difficult time concentrating since I was mostly thinking at how could I see Lila again. She didn't want to answer to my calls then I had to see her face to face again which was more difficult but it was worth trying.
- Absent minded again Julian.
Ricardo said as we were leaving the field.
- He's like that since he came back. He's missing Vanessa.
Sebastian said making kissing expressions.
I smirked and they continued.
- You're so in love man. That was so unexpectable from someone like you. I always thought that your carreer mattered the most.
Ricardo added.
It mattered. Before seeing Lila again.
I thought to myself.
- Yes, you're right. I couldn't believe it either. This girl had me hooked.
I admitted referring to Lila.
- She's beautiful.
Sebastian said and Ricardo laughed.
- She's taken.
He said to Sebastian giving him a friendly pat.

- Sorry I'm late I couldn't decide which dress to wear.
Kim said closing my car's door behind her.
- It's okay.
I responded.
- Here's your invitation and here's mine. Start driving or we'll never be there on time.
She said and I obeyed. The last thing I wanted was to have more alone time with Kim.
We arrived just on time and we both headed out of my car. At least Kim didn't expect me to behave as if I was her date.
- Your invitation. They'll ask for it.
Kim said giving me the invitation and it was the first time I looked at her tonight. To my surprise she was beautiful. Okay Kim is in generall beautiful but because I don't get along with her I guess it affects her appearance as well.
- Thanks.
I said looking at her and she blushed.
In the entrance they indeed asked for the invitations and Kim smiled at the guy there way too friendly. I tried to hide a laugh when he looked at her in the same way before saying:
- Mr. and mrs. Draxler.....
- We're not.....
Kim started saying but I interrupted her.
- Yes, enough with the typical stuff where should we go ?
I asked and he lead us to a big room full of tables. He told us which our table was. At the same table was fortunately both Sebastian and Ricardo. And Mario. We headed toward them and they barely notice us because of how loud in there was.
- Hello guys. Nice to see you all again.
Kim said and they all hugged her. Yes, typicall Kim. I rolled my eyes when she greeted the girl Ricardo was with -a girl I have never seen before because of him being a.... well.... a womanizer- and after that greeting also Mario's wife.
I sat next to Sebastian who had came alone by the way and after the speeches began he whispered to me.
- Why did you saw up with Kim ?
He asked and I whispered back at him.
- Vanessa's still at Munich for her movie.
- Kim looks good. If I were you......
- I don't care what would you do if you were me.
I said and then we all clapped since the headmister of our team finished his speech.
- No, I mean if I were you I would give her my phone number.
- She has my phone number.
- My phone number Julian. Not yours.
Sebastian said and I rolled my eyes.
- Give her your phone number I don't care as long as you're keeping her away from me as more as possible.
- No problem man.
Sebastian said and he went to sit in the empty chair next to Kim.
I checked my phone hoping that maybe Lila changed her mind but I only had a text from Vanessa saying that she missed me and that she's coming back soon. I don't know if I was happy with that since I would spend less hours with Kim or if I was sad since I had to tell Vanessa about the wedding. Or about Lila. Or both.

After endless speeches, slow music started playing inviting all of the love birds to dance. Mario and his wife danced, Ricardo and this girl danced and of course Sebastian and Kim who was laughing the whole time at what Sebastian was saying.
Maybe if she gets a boyfriend she'll stop paying so much attention at me.
I thought to myself. But then again her job was like that so I knew I had fake hopes.
- Hey, let's dance together.
Kim said appearing from nowhere touching my hand.
- Forget it.
I said smiling.
- Come on Julian. Don't be like that.
She said grabbing me and forcing me to follow her to the dance floor.
I followed her unwillingly but she bumped into another woman who was holding a drink in her hand and she split it all over Kim's dress.
- Damn it. You destroyed my dress you......
- Hey Kim calm down.
I said and I grabbed her before she could do something to the other woman.
- She destroyed my dress.
Kim kept complaining while leading me to the bathroom.
- I'll wait here.
I said when I realized she was going inside.
- No way. Come inside you'll hand my purse.
She said still cursing while trying to clean her dress.
- It's not that bad.
I said but she looked at me as if she was about to kill me.
- It is.
She said as she continued to clean it.
- Let me help you.
I said while thinking that it was stupid just being there and not helping her.
- Thanks Julian.
She said but I think she was right about the dress. It was destroyed.
- I'll buy you another if you'll be a good manager.
I said laughing.
- Too funny Julian. Let's leave besides although you didn't say it, I know it myself that it's way too boring here.
