Bahiya

"I'm not King yet Auni." Makosa chuckled.

"Soon you'll be!" Said Ishara, while nudging his arm.

Makosa's smile went away. He looks sad now. I wonder why? When Makosa was a cub, he use to be so excited and happy to be King when his father had first announced it to the pride. Now that's he's older that excitement seems to be long gone.

"Makosa, come with me." I say.

Makosa raises a brow. Ishara pushed him forward and laughed. "Go on dude!"

"Yeah, we'll see you guys later!" Said Auni.

Makosa walks beside me. "Where are we going?"

"Just for a walk and talk." I simply said.

"Oh..."

"Makosa, what's wrong?"

"Nothing. I'm fine, why you ask Bahiya?" He asks, giving me a half smile.

I roll my hazel eyes. "Oh come on, you may have fooled everyone else but your not going to fool me too. I know what's up!"

"I don't know what you're talking about."

I stop walking. "You don't want to be a King anymore."

Makosa stops walking too and stand in front me. He looks puzzled. "What? I've never said-"

"I saw the way you looked when Ishara and Auni mentioned it back there. You look so upset. If it's about us being betrothed I totally understand!"

"No, no, no. It has nothing to do with us being betrothed. I'm glad to be paired with you Bahiya. Your an amazing girl and really beautiful! We both connect in a great way."

"Your an amazing girl and really beautiful!" I blush at the sentence, but quickly cleared my throat and look back serious again. "Then what's really wrong, Makosa? Tell me, I'm your best friend!"

Makosa sat down with a sigh. "It's my father."

"What about him?"

"It's like he wants me to become this super strong perfect King. He wants to be proud of me. I get that I do...but sometimes I wonder and ask myself if I'm ready for this kind of royalty stuff? After my brother's death, my parents forced and told me straight up that I was going to be the next future King. They never gave me a chance or even asked if this is something I really wanted to do. I just want to be normal for a while and enjoy life. You get what I'm saying Bahiya?"

I nod and place a paw on top of his own. "I do and I think you should talk to your parents about this."

He shook his head. "No, I can't. They won't listen to me even if I tried."

"It wouldn't hurt to try right?"

"I guess..."

"I'll be there with you if you want?"

Makosa smiles. "Yeah, that sounds cool."

I smile back. "Good. It's going to be okay, Makosa."

"I hope."

"Come on, let's go back to the others!"

"I'll race ya!"

Makosa sprints off. I frown, "Hey that's cheating!"

He laughs while I chase after him.
