•MAHA•

It was sunset. I watched with an unwavering gaze, as a fiery red orb of light slowly sank beneath the horizon, and threads of light lingered in the sky, mingling with the rolling clouds, dyeing the heavens first orange, then red, then dark blue, until all that was left of the sunset was a chalky mauve, and then that melted away in turn as stygian darkness took.

"Isn't the sunset beautiful?"

"Yes, indeed."

My best friend Rudo and I are sitting on top of a grassy hill watching the sunset. I suppose to be on my way home. Kion my big brother had warn me before many times about the dangers of the hyenas and also a male lion wandering around the Pride Lands too. But things now have been quiet lately every since that day of the incident.

Besides, I always feel safe around Rudo...

Rudo now have a full grown bushy mane and a tall muscular body. On his furry chin he also have a beard. He's grown indeed very handsome I have to admit. Over the years, I've developed a crush on him. But I can't let it be known just yet. I am afraid.

What if he doesn't feel the same way?

Our friendship will not be the same...

It'll be so awkward...

"Come on Maha, let's get you home before your brother in law and big brother begin to worry where you are." Rudo said, interrupting my thoughts.

I snort. "They both will be fine Rudo. I'm not a little cub or teenager anymore. I can watch and take care of myself." I tilt my head up proudly high after saying my last sentence.

Rudo smirks. "You're so stubborn."

"My job to be."

"Okay, if we get in trouble for staying out longer I'm blaming you."

I roll my eyes. Will he just relax already?!

"What should we do now?" He asks, in a bored tone.

"I don't know." I shrug. "Any place but home..."

"I have an idea, follow me! It's this beautiful breath taking place my foster mom had taken me when I was a cub. We could go there if that's what you want?"

"Yeah sure! It's sounds amazing."

Rudo starts to walk leading us the way to this secretive place. I am quite curious as to what place it could be. I walk beside him.

"How far is it?"

"Not that much far. Just pass this desert that's coming up ahead."

DESERT?!

I stop walking. "Rudo, we're starting to leave the Pride Lands territory. I can't go much farther than this. My sister, brother, and mother will both worry where I am. I didn't realize you meant outside of home."

Rudo stops walking too and look over his right shoulder at me. He chuckles, "Well Princess, you did said any place but home. But I see. I guess I'll show you another time."
