Chapter 16: Wrath of Silence

Katelyn was just finishing explaining to her friends the crazy encounter with the strange eyes and the giant, evil shadow.

Her friends were silent afterward.

Most shared looks of disbelief or concern.

"Katelyn, are you sure your feeling fine?" Dante asked.

"I'm gonna have to agree with Dante on this one." Aaron agreed.

"Not," he added, "that I'm saying your loosing it Katelyn, but are you sure it wasn't just some crazy nightmare you had while accidentally falling asleep on the job?"

Katelyn pondered this.

It had seemed pretty insane when said aloud, but then again, her instincts were never wrong.

"You have been kinda stressing about the job lately." Aaron added. 

Katelyn took in this as well, before sighing. "Maybe your right guys. Sorry for freaking you all out, but I just got really scared." 

Guess she would be taking the job again tonight.

"Don't worry Katelyn~Sama, Kawaii~Chan will bake your favorite cookies for you!" Kawaii~Chan cheered. "But first, can somebody eat Kawaii~Chan's pancakes?!" She added aggressively.

"I will!" Garroth volunteered.

"Hooray!" Kawaii~Chan clapped her hands together excitedly. "Kawaii~Chan will get the syrup!"

The meif'wa bounced cheerily up the stairs to the kitchen, and Zane followed, muttering something suspiciously like: "Missed newest episode....Pinkie Cake."

Dante left to go hang out with Jenna, and Aaron went back upstairs to wake Aphmau.

Travis remained, shifting ever so slightly from foot to foot.

"I got your text." He said after a moment of silence. "You wanted to...talk?" 

Katelyn nodded, and got up from her seat.

"Let's go to my room" She offered quietly, and the couple went upstairs.

Aaron knocked on the door to no answer.

He frowned.

Aphmau was usually up much earlier than this.

He opened the door slowly, and found her rolled up like a burrito in her pillows, muttering.

"Aph?" He asked. "It's pretty late, you should get up."

She instantly bolted upright at the sound of her name.

"A...Aaron?" She squeaked. "What are you doing here?"

"Waking you up." Aaron stated. "You realize it's way past your usually wake-up time, right?"

"Uhhh..." She checked the clock. "Oh! It is!"

"Katelyn's already home, you must've been quite tired last night."

"I...I was." She replied ominously.

"Alright, well you should probably get up before you oversleep. Don't wanna become nocturnal like Kawaii~Chan and Lucinda, huh?"
