Of course, it would've been unnatural for the group to not get any questions.

But was really surprised them totally was the lack of actual conversation.

Empty after empty silence fell between short questions and even shorter responses.

It was unbearable.

So Aphmau stepped in.

"Guys...I know that this is still a bit odd, but I'm going to need your help. Your promise."

Everybody exchanged nervous glances.

Aphmau typically wasn't one to ask for help in such a state.

"Now that you guys...know." Aphmau cleared her throat. "There's a chance...that Vincent might come after you next."

"Hang on, you mean he's still out there?!" Travis yelped.

"Why don't we just phone the police?" Aaron suggested.

"Oh yeah, let's just tell the cops that there's an insane serial killer on the island somewhere targeting us and that we desperately need their help." Max rolled his eyes. "At this point, calling the po-po's ain't gonna do us anything. They wouldn't believe us first off, and even if they did, I'm pretty sure Jess's dad isn't dumb enough to attack with them around. They'd eventually give up on the investigation and leave, which would dump us back at square one."

"Fair point." Aaron shrugged. "But why does us knowing have anything to do with Vincent harming us?"

"Because." Aphmau's voice quivered in the slightest of shakes. "He'll use anything against me. He's smart. You'd think him not to be, but he is. He can, and will break me down if possible. Even if that means using those closest to me as leverage. He knows that if he can snatch you away, it'll slowly tear me apart. Which allows him an easy win."

"Why would he do that? Sure he's insane, but what would he gain of killing you?" Lucinda tapped a nail firmly against her chin in question.

"Lord knows." Satiel answered, but Aphmau casted a side glance to Matron.

She hadn't been paying much attention to the ghost, but she noticed the downcast look Matron was giving. It wasn't directly toward anybody, but her gaze fixated on the floor. Almost in resentment.

A few of her friends followed her stare, but frowned as it led to nothing.

"Hey Aph, whatcha looking at?" Dante waved to snag her attention.

"Err, nothing." She answered quickly, but too quickly, for suspicious glances carried onto her deliberately.

"This...is a lot." Kawaii~Chan spoke, for the first time not in her high pitched voice, but in a slightly deeper, serious note. "But if there's anything Kawaii~Chan is sure of, it's that she will always keep a promise to Aphmau~Senpai."

"Right. About the promise." Aphmau took a deep breath. "Promise me guys, you'll NEVER go ANYWHERE alone. Try staying in larger crowds or group at all costs. I can't risk you being alone on the island at this point." She turned to glare at her childhood friends. "Even you guys. While you may be capable of caring for yourselves, better to stay in larger groups."

"This is starting to sound like one of those old fashioned horror movies." Garroth mumbled.

"Yeah, it is." Dante shivered with slight fear.

"Grow up you two." Zane growled. "This isn't some sort of movie with the big bad monster who's eating everybody's heads off, this is reality."

"But it's just as bad!" Wailed Garroth miserably.

"Shush you two." Aaron scolded.

"Just...promise me, alright?" Aphmau pleaded, near frustration and tears.

"Of course!"

"Definitely."

"How could I not?"

"As much as I hate going in groups, fine."

"With you all the way!"

"I promise."

"Me too!"

A flood of agreements launched forward, compelling Aphmau to squish them all in one giant group hug, though her arms weren't long enough to do that sadly.

"You guys have no idea how much that relieves me." Aphmau sighed.

"But Katelyn, was her attack because of Vincent?!" Travis demanded, as if the topic had jumped into discussion.

Silence ensured the room.

"Yes." Aphmau's voice was barely above a whisper.

"Then of course, because if I ever find him, I'll kick his butt!" Travis promised.

"I'll help you with that Travis~Kun!" Kawaii~Chan cheered, surprisingly forcefully for her peacefully attitude. "Kawaii~Chan will make sure he doesn't leave without at least a scratch!"

"You guys." Aphmau snickered between her words. "That's so amazing of you."

"What can I say, I AM a pretty cool guy." Travis winked.

"Yes you are." Aphmau giggled in response.

"But I'M obviously more swaggy." Sky boasted, flipping his ponytail and holding up a peace sign.

"Can't exactly argue. You're both fabulous." Aphmau nodded. "But CLEARLY, I'm fabulous-er." She bragged, flipping her own hair in a perfectionistic way.

"Ladies, ladies." Max argued. "It's clear who the REAL fabulous one is here-"

"It's Ross." Aphmau deadpanned, internally smirking.

Silence.

"I'm the fabulous-est." Ross monotoned, dropping an invisible mic and dabbing.

"GOSHDANGI-"

"OOOOOOOOO-"

"HE DABBED, OH MY IRENE HE DABBED-"

"YOU TRULY ARE FAB KING-"

"WHY ARE WE SCREAMING-"

"CUZ INTERNET REASONS DANTE-"

"WHAT-"

"WILL YOU ALL JUST SHUT UP." Max screamed.

"..."

"Pfft, you look like a tomato."

"GRRRRR-"

"Is somebody being Mad Max?" Aaron joked.

Everybody stared at him.

If cartoon effects were real, Max would've had steam exhaling from his nostrils and ears, with four curved lines on his head to symbolize his raging anger. (💢)

Aphmau's grin widened as her cares were suddenly tossed out of the window for a moment. "You'd better run."

Aaron didn't need to be told twice.

The look on Max's face was enough to scare anybody. (Except maybe Ross.)

Bolting from the room, Aaron dashed off as Max let out a banshee screech and chasing him, his golden 'Z' necklace flying like a cape behind him.

The banter of laughter rang throughout the air, as Aphmau sensed another emotion rise in herself.

Anger.

But not her anger.

Matron's anger.

Aphmau turned around, and stared at the girl for a moment.

Matron had seething fumes of flint in her eyes, sharp and cold as ice?

Aphmau opened her mouth to speak, but her attention was dragged when she caught Satiel sending her a look.

'What about Matron?' His eyes asked.

Aphmau blinked, for a second thinking that he meant the ghost girl, before realizing she hadn't told any of them about her new discovery of the spectrum.

'Another day.' She stared back. 'Another day friend.'
