"W-why-, no, who are you? And why are you telling me this?" Lucinda demanded, a calm, warning posture

"Has anybody ever told you, something's are better left unquestioned." He mused, completely ignoring the thought of answering her questions.

Lucinda's gut was telling her to go, to run away from this man and this place, and NEVER look back.

But her mind was saying otherwise, taking control.

"Answer the question." Lucinda said, struggling to keep her voice level.

"Why should I?" He seemed smug. "It would be violating to force me, wouldn't it?"

As much as she hated it, he was right. She had no business in questioning him as if she herself had any higher authority.

"Well then." Lucinda swallowed down her fear. "I suppose I'll just, uhh, get a move on."

Emphasizing her last words, she nodded more to herself than him, and started off with her purchases-

"By the way." She cautiously turned, ready for a bolt.

"Should you be curious." He said. "I think you know who I am."

Her guesses were limited, but she didn't want to take chances.

Biting her lip, she said nothing, simply glared.

"No?" His smile was infuriatingly crooked.

Silence followed as she shut her mouth tight.

"Mark my words." He drawled. "You may want to think about what I just said."

He turned around this time, leaving Lucinda hair still on end, and unknown sweat dripping from her head.

Zane was a man (child-) of simple needs.

Unlike his rowdy brother Garroth, he didn't need the many necessities of life as his sibling.

While Garroth was probably ogling some cats in the nearest store, he waited boredly by the fish isle.

Garroth claimed he was 'brooding' (which he absolutely was not *wink*), which Zane had snapped back with sometime before the heavens granted him a distraction.

Now, his singular visible eye was observing the fish as they mindlessly swam by.

He snorted as one golden fish bump aimlessly against the glassy tank, as if no brain existed to pilot the pitiful thing.

"Having fun?" A peppy voice chirped.

"GAH-!" He turned, staring in surprise as one of the store assistants peered at him.

Their bright blue uniform was hard to miss.

"Oh! I'm sorry-" The employee seemed flustered in embarrassment. "I s-swear I didn't mean to startle you!

"It's...fine." Zane said, shrugging it off as if he hadn't just screamed out loud in a pet store.

"Well." The employee stuck out a hand for a shake.

Zane grimaced, wanting to refused, but remembered the many times Aphmau had scolded him for not shaking stranger's hands.

Grudgingly, her coldly shook the employee's hand.

"Well then." The employer brushed bright red hair that had fallen behind their shoulders. "The name's Kiki, and uhh-" She gestured around her. "Are you looking for something in particular? Or just brow-"

"Just, browsing." Zane interrupted, narrowing his eyes in desperation to get away from this social interacting.

"I see!" Kiki chirped a little too cheerfully for his taste. "Well, just be sure to tell me if you need any help at all finding something. Kiki's the name!"
