A restless night got the best of Aphmau.

I suppose that would be her punishment for staying up late the night before.

Her entire sleep schedule was knocked off course. (Like mine for the past few months! I feel like I barely get any sleep XD)

Not only that, Aphmau had discovered Matron wasn't too fond of sleep (triple gasps of outrage).

Aphmau could feel the consistent muttering of the fiery readhead who had decided to make her home at Aphmau's windowsill.

"Can you be quiet please?" Aphmau groaned, shoving her face deep into her pillow. "I'm tryna sleep here."

"I don't sleep." Matron responded despondently.

"I kinda got that." Aphmau sighed, tossing off her blanket with a grunt. "What's keeping you talking though?"

"You realize everything you hear, I hear?" Matron turned to look at Aphmau, her eyes glowing luminous green. "I'm thinking about what your boyfriend said."

"He's not my boyfriend." Aphmau defensively shot back. "He's one of my best friends.

"Pssh, you have a lot of those." Matron snorted. "He told YOU to listen harder. I don't know what he meant by that, but clearly he thinks it's a way to get rid of ME."

Aphmau noted how Matron sounded like a pouty two year old who didn't get her snack, but nodded as she suddenly understood Matron's constant chatter.

"You don't want me to get rid of you." She blatantly said.

"No duhhhhh." Matron sighed. "Nobody wants to die."

"When did I say I was gonna kill you?" Aphmau's evident confusion showed on her face.

"Getting rid of me is another way of saying you'll kill me." Matron's exasperated noise blew Aphmau slightly.

"But you're a ghost. Wouldn't you just-"

"I don't know!" Matron threw her hands up in annoyance. "I'd either die or go back to being what I used to be! I don't know?!!!"

"Well I'm sorry I asked." Aphmau mumbled, looking down and glaring slightly at Matron's sensitivity. "Listen. I honestly just want this to be over."

"Don't we all want it over?" Matron asked ponderously. "Don't we all want something to end? Life, and death, it's all the same."

"Uh huh. Keep your supercalifragilistic-existential crisis's to yourself Ghosty." Aphmau rolled her eyes.

"Supercali-what?" Matron's question ended with a falter. "Oh forget IT!"

"Why are you so angsty all the time?!" Aphmau whined, throwing her pillow at Matron, which did nothing because it simply phased through her.

With a thump, the pillow landed and Matron gave an unamused look.

"Reasons."

"Reasons you won't tell me because...?"

"Because I don't like talking about my reasons to keep introverted!" (Me too friend)

"Ugh. You're really pinching my heart at this point!" Aphmau slammed her head back down on her bed, this time with no pillow to comfort her head as it hit the mattress.

"Good." Matron sniffed and turned her head back to the window.

Aphmau drowsily pulled her blankets and rolled herself up slightly like a small cinnamon bun.

"I'm going to bed." She announced, ignoring Matron's noise of indignantcy.

As the darkness covered Aphmau, she muted Matron's continued whispering.
