To be as honest as a bias person could currently be, Garroth disliked the sun sometimes.

Sure, somedays it could be warm and bright, life-giving to the plants and animals of Earth, but most of the time, especially at a resort for the summer, it was a burning hot ball of gas in the sky waiting to melt him down.

Garroth wasn't even ice cream, so he couldn't melt!

But his skin was telling him otherwise, heating up despite the layer of sunscreen supposedly protecting him.

Hopping into the shade, he took a moment to look around.

The pet store had been interesting enough to look around in, (especially the cute cats that were there) but he'd lost interest quickly as the world around him had many more things to offer in the short time he had to explore.

Garroth was really never one to stay too long in one place anyway.

His eyes strayed to Dante and Travis, who were not too far off, lingering by some sort of food truck.

Travis turned just enough so Garroth could see a taco in his hand.

Dante was carrying a simple drink, and handing over money to the cashier.

The cashier had short brown hair, and was wearing an odd army green jacket with orange stripes on the sleeves.

He said something to Dante, sent two finger guns his way, and waved him goodbye before addressing the next customer, a black haired man with decently long hair.

(Quiznak, I have no self control-)

Garroth started their way in hopes of finding something to do with his time, but was cut short by Dante jumping up and shouting something that sounded like, "I'm late!"

Dante was a Sonic-blue blur after that. (GOTTA GO FAST-)

Garroth decided Travis would still be okay company.

"Ey Gawroth." Travis said through a mouthful of taco.

"Ewwww-" Garroth giggled. "Swallow before you talk silly."

"Sorry."

Travis took time to swallowed, chewing thoughtfully on the last bit of taco.

"Find anything you like?" Travis asked.

"That's why I'm here, any suggestions on where to browse?" Garroth gestured around to the whole area. "This place is huge, but I'm still indecisive as of where to go."

Travis raised an eyebrow, before speaking. "I thought you were looking at cats?"

"Got bored."

"Never thought those words would come out of your mouth." Travis had a good laugh at that. "Did you try looking for maybe something to eat?"

"No. I had a huge breakfast, not very hungry right now." Garroth muttered, remembering the plates of food he'd gone through beforehand."

"Well then." Travis laughed. "Maybe try going to the clothes stores? There's always something bound to catch your eye."

"I'll see." Garroth smiled and nodded. "I'll see you later Travis."

"Later Garroth!" Travis shoved the rest of his taco in his mouth. "Try not to get losth."

Garroth stuck his tongue out in Travis's direction. "Don't talk with your mouth full!"

"Sure, whatever Mom."

Garroth probably would've argued more, but he sped up his walk away, determined to find something to do.

It wasn't long before he found one of the island's many souvenir stores stockpiled around the main locations at Love~Love.

The store door opened with a pleasant 'F'TAAAAAANG' of a bell. (Impossible....)

"Welcome to Love~Love Paradise, SUPER STORE!" A man called out. "Souvenirs to savor, and only the freshest items in stock!"

The store was decent and in fair shape, similarly built to most of the shops.

Long aisles containing multiple stocked shelves were glowing with color.

'There's always something bound to catch your eye.'

Indeed there was.

A hula skirt.

Honestly, the fact that his mind had strayed to that particular piece of clothing first was not surprising to Garroth at all.

Lessons on the island were able to provide regular, grass skirts for those willing to learn, but this skirt was special.

Why?

Because...

It.

Had.

Cat beads.

*insert anime gasp*

At the top of the skirt where the rim to hold up the generic 'skirt' was a fine necklace of intertwined beads, each shaped specifically like a cat's head.

A few blue ponytails dangled from the top, and it was at this moment did Garroth Ro'meave find the true meaning of perfection.

"Excuse me sir?" A girl's slim voice said. "Please move, you're blocking the doorway."

"Ooh! Sorry."

Garroth scooted aside to let a rather annoyed lady walk by, who immediately gave him the stink eye as she stormed to the register.

Somebody was having a bad day.

He huffed and walked over to the skirt, and just as he made a grab for it, somebody almost directly behind him said, "Why?"

Garroth turned around, brow creased and frowning. "Why what?"

The man said nothing at first, which gave Garroth the time to observe and take him all in.

The first word that came to his mind was 'dark.'

Dark in color, dark in aura, dark in sense.

Dark in his eyes.

That's what startled Garroth.

He didn't think he'd ever see somebody with as dark of eyes as this guy.

"Why do you continue to support her?"

The last word was laced with malice and envy Garroth couldn't even begin to describe.

Intense was putting it mildly.

"Why do you help her, even when she lies?"

"Who?"

Garroth wasn't stupid, but sometimes obliviousness could be a gift, even if it was faked.

"Don't play dumb, you make it obvious when you lie." The man hissed.

Garroth's mental pieces were slowly clicking together who exactly this guy was, and it wasn't a very pretty finished puzzle.

If his suspicions were correct, this was a bad situation to be in.

And to think all he'd wanted when entering this store was to spend time.

But those words were hitting him hard...

'Why do you help her, even when she lies?'

...

He almost didn't see the man leave the store a few minutes later.

Garroth glanced at the prized hula skirt he'd been looking at.

Suddenly, he really didn't feel like buying it anymore.

The words were now a shout in his head.

Why...

Why?

Why.
