Travis's emerald green eyes flickered around the plaza.

Let's be frank for just a second here, m'kay?

Tacos were the best things in the whole WORLD.

He could sing to the world how great they were but precious time was being used to consume these delightful delicacies.

(This was his fourth taco guys.)

Considering the fifth taco (No Travis-), he eventually decided his stomach needed a break from the insistent war of taco-mania.

Besides, the food truck guy seemed busy with customers.

Dante was gone, and Travis was left alone.

It made him slightly uneasy.

The last time he'd been left alone, he'd launched himself into the sky and landed miraculously in Love~Love Paradise, somehow NOT DYING (Because fudge all known laws of human anatomy) without a single broken bone.

But, coming out unscathed was a blessing.

Things really could've been worse for him.

Something else was on his mind though.

Something old...and forgotten memories.

Aphmau had been brave enough to bring up her past, and he was admiring of that. She was a strong person.

Sure, maybe the whole thing was supposed to shock Travis in some way or another, but at this rate, stranger things had probably happened in some parts of the world.

Despite the fact Travis didn't typically pay attention to the little things that's often (and he admitted it), he did manage to recall certain times back in highschool when Aphmau would stiffen up at the easiest of questions.

'Where ya from?'

'How old are you?'

'Do you have any siblings?'

At first, he assumed it was her shyness, but getting to know Aphmau later on had proved that she was not shy.

So, maybe it was a sensitive subject.

That's what the reason had been for years.

But now, truth's out.

Even now, Travis could still see that Aphmau was still having a hard time opening up that side of her.

It was clear not the full story had been told either, there were things that Aphmau obviously wasn't ready to tell them yet.

Travis knew all about that, and he wasn't pushing either.

The heat of the sun started hitting him, and he slipped under one of the many shaded areas surrounding him.

Even so, shade does not equal temperature.

His skin was still burning.

All his mental thoughts about Aphmau were triggering something.

Something he'd definitely forgotten.

His entire highschool seemed fuzzy now that he thought about it...

Huh.

"Love~Love Paradise sure is a wonderful place, huh?"

A woman, chatting up a storm with another girl her age passed by, and waved around her hand that carried a tall drink.

"It's better than wonderful!" The other lady chirped. "It's glorious!"

Both shared a laugh and continued on their way.

Their banter was a painful reminder almost to the absence of friends he had right now.

Travis had been quick to recognize Aphmau's immediate change in attitude when she'd arrived here.

Aphmau had been almost avoiding them at first, or at least, that's what Travis thought.

She'd been running off at random hours of the day and night (She wasn't as sneaky as she thought she had been) and returning, trying to act like everything was normal.

The came the twists after twists of finding her old friends, Katelyn's hospitalization, and a bunch of other leaking pasts that seemed to come directly from a horror game itself. (Well, I mean, you aren't too far off-)

Like sheesh, honestly.

Couldn't the world just sit back and eat a taco, and give them a break while they were at it.

That would be nice.

But, hahaha! Life doesn't work that way.

She's an outsider, like you. A small voice said in his head.

Puh-LEEZE. Travis remarked back at it. I've got amazing friends here, no loneliness here.

Weren't you just enviously observing those ladies over there, complaining of your sole loneliness?

Ugh, he hated it when...he was right.

Well, as if talking mentally to yourself wasn't depressing enough, the voice only continued.

So much for hating hypocrites when you are one yourself.

Hey! Everybody contradicts themselves once in a while. Travis argued back.

I digress.

Was it possibly to hit yourself in public without looking like an idiot/stressed out?

Travis decided the answer was no.

Unless nobody was looking.

But is that really public then?

Hmm....

Travis contemplated the pros and cons of slapping one's face in public.

"I don't think that'd be a smart idea." A random tourist walking by said to him.

Travis looked up, and the first thing he thought was, 'Mind reader?'

"Before you ask if I'm a mind reader or not, no, but your expression was implying that you were about to do something you probably were going to regret later on."

The guy was small, a brunette with one bright green eye and another deep purple eye. A patch of black skin patched his right cheek, but that wasn't what bothered Travis.

"Uhh..."

"Sorry." The guy readjusted goggles that had now come to Travis's attention. "I didn't mean to scare you."

"It's fine, just a bit startled." Travis played it off, but wondered if this guy had some sort of mega-psychology training.

The guy chuckled. "Well, I hope I haven't startled you too badly. But, keep in mind, whatever you were thinking about that could of possibly made you want to do something out of the ordinary-"

"Like, punch myself in public?" Travis laughed.

"Great example! Just like that! Well, whatever it is on your mind, just know that things will get better soon! If it's a person, know that they probably care! If it's a thing, well, try not the let the inanimate affect you too badly."

"Modzilla!" A blonde haired woman with bright magenta eyes called to the guy. "Hurry up, I don't wanna miss it!"

"I'm coming Polly!"

The woman smiled, and linked hands with the Modzilla, and the happy couple wandered off.

"Goodbye!" Modzilla waved at Travis one last time before rounding a corner.

Travis half-heatedly waved back, but he was smiling.

Some people on this island were really nice.

***
