Chapter 1

Let me introduce myself first! I am Marie Athalie Menezez, 15 years old but they call me other short names like Thalie, Alie, Marie,Athrie and Atha. I am an American..um, nearly, I think close to half. My mother is an American and my father is a filipino. I grew up in New York since I was 3 years old and I finally settled back here, 12 years old. I am currently schooling at PETU [Private East Technological University] as a 4th year highschool.

It  was  a usual morning, My bestfriend, Meaganne and I were walking our way to school.

“Ang boring!” She complained. Meaganne is a FilKor and she's teaching me how to speak in Korean.

“How can you say that? It's just one of the usual mornings and everyday is usually hot.” I smiled.

“Tigilan mo nga yang pageenglish mo! I-korean kita dyan eh!" She pouted.

“What language would I use?” I glared.

“Tagalog po, Ma'am Marie!” She glared back.

“Eto na! Eto na!” I smiled. Tagalog na! Ayan! Ayan! Ano bang problema sa english eh amerikana ako. Sheesh!

“Ayan! Much better!” She grinned while I pouted. 4 years na akong nageenglish tapos ngayon niya lang ako sinita. Okay, sa totoo lang, 2 years ako nageenglish at 2 years ako nagtatagalog tapos ngayon pagtatagalugin-- ano to? Alternation every 2 years?! Mygod!

“Alam ko kung bakit ka nabobore dyan! Yung lovelife mo! Hindi umaandar! Ano ba naman yan! Hindi kailangan ang Love sa buhay no!” Nilakasan ko ang boses ko para pumasok sa kokote ng bestfriend kong 'to!

 

“Ano ba yan! Wag kang sumigaw, naririnig ko kaya!” Inirapan niya ako.

“Pano ba naman kasi, paulitulit!” Di ko mahinaan boses ko, okay lang yan! Para matauhan 'tong animal na 'to.

 

“Paulit ulit daw! Ngayon nga lang eh!” Nagpout siya.

“Ngayon ka lang diyan! Tara na! Tara na!” I pulled her and we ran immediately. As fast as we could, ikaw ba naman na isang lampa na ang room ay nasa pinakahuling floor ng building? We stopped at the door and breathed heavily.

“Miss Menezez and Miss Taramano, come in. Don't worry ladies, you are not late.” Si Ma'am Hernandez. Eto ang favorite teacher ko kasi kapag si Professor Hernandez, Ma'am Hernandez' husband, kahit exact time ka dumating late ka pa rin! Pfft. 

“Thank you, Ma'am!” Sabay na sinabi namin ni Meaganne. Meaganne sits with Terrence and Liz , one of our bestfriends. Terrence and Liz are siblings, nasa same year sila kasi their Mom and Dad enrolled them both at the same time. Si Terrence ay 16 and Liz is the same age with me.
