I was nestled into his bare chest, he was my own personal heater. One of his leather jackets was wrapped around me like a blanket. His arms cradled me, gentle and comforting. I had been reading but soon grew tired, he told me I could sleep and sleep I did.
We were in a leather chair, and we were alone when I was awake. It was the vibration of a low growl that woke me. My eyes didn't open but stayed shut when I heard Percy warn," Do not wake her."
"Sorry, I just think you need to consider what is best for the pack," said a voice. I recognized it, it was Gabe.
"I said no," Percy responded, his hold on me tightening slightly.
"There is war across the seas. You are a Supreme Alpha. It's your duty to attend the conference and if decided go to war." This sounded serious.
"I won't be away from her and if you try to take her from me you will be dead before you get in a fifty foot radius of her," his tone dripped in promise.
Gabe was silent for a moment," I'm not trying to take her from you. I wouldn't do that to you," he said quietly. "But if you don't leave then that could mean war at our doorstep next. You know you can't protect her from their armies alone," Gabe pushed.
I felt his arms tuck me closer into his chest,"I can't leave her here. I can't be away from my mate Gabriel."
"So your going to have to bring her with you, Percy," Gabe said a little louder.
"She's not ready. She only found out today what we are, she needs time to learn and adjust," Percy stated. How much was he really keeping from me?
"We might not have a choice," Gabe announced as if it was obvious. "The moon goddess gave her to you now. She doesn't do anything without good reason."
Tingles erupted where he placed a lasting kiss on my forehead, a fragile gesture even though he thought I was asleep. "I know," he replied, sounding deep in thought.
"We still have time," Gabe sighed, I could here the rustle of his clothes as he leaned back against the chair.
After a minute of dragging silence, Percy's voice broke through,"Every time her body isn't touching mine it feels like my skin is on fire. Today when I wasn't with her my mind was torn apart trying to get back to her. I crave her taste and her laughter every moment I breath. I can't control myself when I'm around her Gabe, it's messing with my head," he growled.
I could hear a muffled chuckle," that's what happens when your a Supreme Alpha. Possessiveness and hunger to be constantly around your mate is normal. She's your anchor, your other half. Give it time," Gabe explained.
I felt him start to play with my hair, curling it around his fingers gently. "You spoke to her today," Percy stated.
"Yes, I did."
He was quiet for a few minutes before he said in a low tone," you may be her friend." I felt my heart flutter at his words. "I trust you and I trust her. I don't need to warn you what would happen if you hurt her."
"Of course not Percy."
"Good."
The door was opened, Tingles growled in irritation but said nothing. "Alpha, your room is ready."
"We will speak tomorrow Gabriel, stay in the guest room tonight. It is late and I'm sure Max will enjoy the company tomorrow."
"Thank you, goodnight brother." I heard his footsteps echo across the floor boards and disappear. Tingles stood up slowly as to "not" wake me. Soon we ascended the stairs and were wrapped in the comforts of new silk sheets. With a kiss to my temple, he finally relaxed. My body was pressed tightly to his now bare chest, I wasn't cold when he was around. For some reason that thought stuck in my head.
I had so many more questions to ask him... But something told me to wait.
