"This is it," Percy's voice rang. "The final battle. Amani, Kaneza, Andolf, I want you to distract the Charmed troops. Use the lead and fall method to draw them away from the center courtyard. Gabe, go under cover with Tristan and plant those bombs around the courtyard. When I give the signal, denate them. That should bye us time to burn the selected Charm speak."
"And Parker, sir?" Tristan asked over the phone. Percy hesitated, a furious sneer on his face.
"He's not fit for battle. Stuff him in a safe place, we'll retrieve him after the battle."
"Now GO," he roared, ending the phone calls.
Immediately I smacked his chest. "What the hell do you mean 'not fit for battle'?" You'd think I would have been notified about this.
He growled but remained calm. "Your brother was shot, but thanks to the Kytani medicine he was carrying in his pocket... he lived."
I fiddled with my fingers, everything was happening so fast. "Percy, what is going to happen after this?"
He paused, his body turning to face me. "What do you mean?" The Mate bond allowed him to sense that this wasn't a causal question.
I fiddled with my fingers more, my throat tighter than Percy's clenched jaw. "What is going to happen to our pack, to our friends, to us?"
He surprised me by smashing his lips with mine. There was a longing behind his lips, a lust filled hunger that consumed all the oxygen in my lungs. And for the first time, I didn't enjoy the kiss. I wanted him to take it back. Percy didn't give me a answer, no, he tried to distract me with lust like he always does. He sealed a unsaid promise with that kiss, and it held only darkness.
Holding my chin tightly in his fingers he whispered,"I'm going to make you mine." I shivered at the thought of being intimate with Percy. While a part of me was excited, the other felt terrified. "And then we're going home." He surprised me by pecking me on the lips, humming thoughtfully before turning back to a spare table.
"And when we go home that's it, right? No more killing, or wars, just us and our families?" I asked nervously.
He sighed, agitation lacing his voice. Turning back around he smiled, genuinely smiled when he saw my hands entwined with each other. Peeling one away from another, rested the palm of my hand on his chest.
His bottle green eyes directly met mine, like beams of powerful light. "I swear under the gaze of the moon and the Supreme Alpha's before me, that there will be no more killing, or war. This promise is sealed by the light of the moon goddess, and the love I have found in being your mate. I swear this on my life, as my life is also yours."
A wave of energy passed through my body, Percy must have felt it too because he flinched. "What was that?" I gasped.
"A moon promise, to break a moon promise means to lose your life. That wave of energy was the seal," he said. When I looked from my hand rested on his chest to his eyes I found myself falling.
There was something different inside him, a softness like a weight had been lifted off him. The heart in his chest pulsed as mine did, and I felt a floodgate of emotion swarming my blood system. After all the pain that had been inflicted on our bond, the promise he made had finally healed it.
He cupped my cheek, his breath fanning my lips. "There are three guards outside. Be smart. Be strong. And for the love of the goddess, if something happens..... stay alive for me."
