Max's POV:
Blood. The metallic scent of blood came crashing down on me like a repulsive wave. Aches flooded my body as bits and pieces of reality slowly came back to me. Steadily a voice broke through the darkness. I couldn't make out the words only the sound of the vowels. Walking out of the darkness my eyes snapped open.
The first thing I see is the source of the sound, Gabriel. I can't make out the details of his face but I could see a messy silhouette. "I heard a commotion, is everything ok Alpha?"
The voice was strong, stabbing my ear drums. I groaned, is this what a hangover feels like? Immediately all eyes were on me. Percy rushed to the bed side. I gasped with he caught my lips with his. The kiss wasn't raw and hungry, it was reassuring. He held me like sand, like I would blow away if his lips left mine.
I pulled back to get some air, quickly getting a sense of my surroundings. The first thing I saw was Gabe. His neck was cherry red, his eyes defeated while he ponders a guilty thought.
"Pony?" His eyes snapped to mine. "What happened to your neck?"
Gabe shifted his gaze to Percy before returning to me. I ignored Percy's tingles and distracting humming, my attention was on what was important. Someone had hurt Gabe.
He smiled,"I'm fine. You must be thirsty, I'll get you some hot chocolate."
Before I could further question him, he disappeared into the hall. The gravity of the situation slowly compressed my brain. Images, memories, feelings all at once fell onto my shoulders. I looked up at Tingles with blurry vision," I'm so sorry for what I did- I-"
He shushed me, taking my hands in his. With pure sincerity he reassured," no baby, you didn't kill anyone. The pen wasn't silver, Angela is alive." His voice deepened," she's locked away for good. She can't hurt your brother or you anymore."
I could only be stunned. "You don't hate me for what I did?"
He shook his head, bottle green eyes activating a flutter in my chest. "My sister died a long time ago, now my family only tolerates her because she shares the same blood in her veins."
My body lurched forward," your father-"
He put his hands on my shoulders instantly relaxing me. "-will never know the truth. As far as he knows Angela has disappeared. It's common, she does it all the time. Your brother is in no danger."
I let out a relieved breath, "thank you Tingles."
An abrupt ringing caught my attention. I turned my head-how had I not seen them before? In the corner of the room was Belle and Pork-pine. A bright grin streaked across my face. "Your here."
Belle stood from her crouched position. "We protect life."
Pork-pine followed,"Gabriel said you asked for our help, we couldn't deny that to our friend."
Before I could speak a single word, Gabe was in the room. "I asked them to take your brother. To keep him safe until he is needed."
Gabe didn't leave because he was angry, he left to gather allies to protect my brother. Before I could respond, Percy stood in between Gabe and the bed. Taking the hot chocolate from Gabe's hands Percy growled," that will be all Gabriel."
Pork pine quickly announced," we'll be outside." They shuffled out of the room, well that's strange.
I narrowed my eyes. "If Pony wants to stay, let him. I don't mind the company."
"We are leaving in two days for war. I want to spend that time with my mate."
Gabe stepped back, a submissive move. "It's ok, I have packing and omega duties to attend to anyway."
Just like before he was gone. I never got to thank him.
Dirt hopped up on my bed. With a affectionate grin he nuzzled my arm, I laughed, he wanted attention. Percy made a attempt to sit next to me. Dirt growled. Wait-was that even possible? I furrowed my eye brows seeing Percy jump back. "Is everything ok?"
Percy glared at Dirt. Like I would a cat I stroked Dirt's back, eyeing Percy suspiciously. "Everything is fine."
******
Sitting at the kitchen table, it dawns on me. "Tingles," I say to catch his attention. Percy turns away from the kitchen stove to look at me. "Yes My Hazel?"
Under his intense gaze I suddenly feel nervous. Clearing my throat, I speak my mind."I know things have been crazy ever since we met. And I was talking to Parker earlier today and he got me thinking..." my voice fades out, gauging his reaction.
He tilts his head to the side in interest, bottle green eyes seeing right through the sheet of nervousness I wear. "You feel like you hardly know me," he answers.
I nodded, the grilling chicken in the back ground filling the silence. Percy walked over to where I sat, he gets down on his knees, so he's eye-level with me. He takes my fragile hands in his, the tingles a confident current on my skin. Charm glistens off his white smile. "Max, my love, would you go on a date with me?"
A blush filled my cheeks with enough happiness, I couldn't stop smiling. I must've looked like a idiot when I replied,"yes."
