I walked through the hall and down the stairs. I sat at the foot of the stairs waiting. I was going to tell Percy straight, he couldn't treat my friend this way. Max was asleep and I knew he would be done with the meeting soon enough.
Time passed when I finally heard a set of two footsteps. I took a whiff of the air, Percy and Tristan. They came through the kitchen door and into the foyer. Percy and Tristan glanced at me but didn't say a word to acknowledge me. Percy patted him on the back as he lead him to the door.
"Tomorrow we will discuss removing Gold Moon's Alpha from power," Percy said to Tristan. The door open, revealing the darkness of the night.
Tristan looked frustrated," we have our plan, we should be moving tomorrow. Not talking about it further," he argued.
Percy snapped and grabbed Tristan by the collar of his shirt, drawing him in close,"my word is final," he growled venomously. He threw Tristan back a couple of feet outside the door. "Tomorrow at noon," he stated before slamming the door and locking it shut.
He stared at the wooden graveings in the door," you may be my brother, but your taking quite a risk seeing me after what you pulled today."
I lifted my chin," I could say the same to you, treating my friend the way you did today."
His fists clenched at his sides,"I know you were the one who convinced her to come, what happened today falls on your shoulders."
I narrowed my eyes on his back,"I didn't convince her to do anything, she wanted to go. I only gave her the opportunity."
"Then that was your first mistake, after getting your scent all over her," he barked, his back still facing me.
"How else was I going to get her there? Drag her behind me in a sled?" He growled out a warning. "You humiliated her in front of the council. You made her feel rejected!" I shouted.
His fist was through the wall next to the door. His chest rising and falling heavily," I'm trying to protect her and your making my job difficult Gabriel!"
I shook my head angrily, " you can't shield her from our world! She needs to learn about these things, she's Luna, it's her title right."
His body was flexing, the veins under his skin pulsing. He was trying to keep himself under control. "That's not your place to decide!" he shouted.
"As her friend it is," I told him bravely.
He finally turned around, his face twisted in darkness." She needs to be safe! I don't want her to have to experience these things. She doesn't have to learn about the darkness of our world. I can protect her!"
I stepped forward," your hurting her Percy!" His face froze. "Did you see her ribs today? Did you see the look on her face when you rejected her?" My voice and face were desperate for him to understand. His was frozen still.
"What happens if there is another rouge attack? What happens if one day she's lost without you by her side? She needs to know our world, dark and light. She needs to know how to survive," I spoke, my voice pleading.
"It's won't come to that," he tried to say.
I stepped forward again, ignoring his shaking," I know you don't want to think about the if but have you seen our world? It's about when it's going to happen, and she needs to be prepared when it does."
He was angry but I knew it was at himself and not at me," I don't want her
to change."
I stared him dead in the eyes when I said," she needs to be ready for that conference a couple of weeks away. And right now your doing a shit job of preparing her."
His eyes looked down," Tristan wants to go to war with Gold Moon. I don't want to drag her into something like that. I don't want to lose her before I've barley had her Gabe!"
I gazed upon his conflicted frame," I know, but she is strong. If you want to win this war and the war over seas you need her by your side. If you continue treating her the way you have, you'll lose her."
His eyes were black as he shoved me into the wall, it cracked behind me. I glared at him, it's the truth. "If she isn't allowed to be a part of this war which is realistically a battle, then what will she do over seas?" I questioned knowingly.
He stomped up the stairs, his growls thunderous as he went to Max. I crossed my arms over my chest, he better fix this, we can't keep going back and forth on this subject.
