"...Find me Kyto. El serpitus de larius. Kantani belovos!"

As soon as the incantation was complete I cut my hand, letting the blood rain into the tin plate. The mixture of plants and pieces of the castle wall, became stained in my blood. If the spell worked, that meant it would let off a scent to attract Dirt. With any luck, Dirt will lead the others right to the castle and set me free. Then I could warn Percy and Max about Prince Silviu.

The cell I was locked away in, suddenly began to steadily raise in temperature. No longer did I shiver and huddle in the corner, desperate for heat. If anything, it was starting to get really hot. Like someone had broken a window, a fierce crack shook my room. The mixture from the tin plate began to mix and swirl, raising out of the dish in a crimson whirlpool. Almost like a portal, groaning and growing brighter and brighter until a final crack caused me to brace myself against the rock wall.

The light faded away and my face was met with a slobbery kiss. "Ugh! Dirt?" I looked down seeing him stare up at me with heart eyes and lazily molding against my shin. I grabbed the ripped out page and turned it over on its back. I didn't perform a tracking spell, it was a teleportation spell! Not one I could replicate or even travel through because I'm not a Kyto.

Dirt barked and jumped up and down, ecstatic to see me again. He was going to get us caught if he didn't shut up. "Dirt! Shhh! Be quiet!" A slam echoed from one of the cells down the hall, Dirt whimpered and leaped into my arms for protection. I sighed, feeling responsible for giving him comfort in this dark place.

"We're going to get out of here boy." I didn't know how smart Kytos were, but I was about to find out. "We're going to play a game? Would you like that?" He jumped up and down his dirt body morphing back together with each landing in my arms. "Outside this door is a lever, I want you to pull it."

I felt like an idiot, talking to him like he was a dog or something with an actual brain. I lifted him up, and brought him closer to the eye slit that was in the top of the door. The guards used it at night to look in and check on prisoners. "Now morph through the slit," I instructed. Considering Dirt was made of magic dirt, it really wasn't a struggle for him to deconstruct himself and then reconstruct himself outside the door.

He hobbled next to the door where my vision was limited but I could still see his backside." Good Dirt," I praised. "Now jump and pull the lever." I heard him jump a few times before finally he pulled something down. My excitement was diminished by the sight of the food tray door being opened. "No Dirt the other lever. There are two levers, the one above it!" I'll admit, I forgot about the other lever. That one is on me.

He repeated the jumping until eventually he opened the cell door. Once I was free I picked him up in my arms and showered him with 'thank yous' and hugs. He returned the love with tongue kisses and happy barks. I took off my shirt and wrapped it around my body like a baby carrying wrap. If I was going to get out of here, I needed dirt as close to me as possible.

He was more than happy to snuggle up against me and snooze with the rocking of my swift steps. This was my chance. I knew there was a special door in one of the hallways, a secret passageway that the guards use to get from one side of the castle to the other. I know this because I heard them talking about it while I was working in the library.

If there was a passage way in the side hall, I could use my superior sense of smell. Here in our world we use a special, mystical type of wood that burns in low levels of oxygen. The smell is distinct compared to the 'normal' oil used to burn in the hallways.

With one hand around the wrapping carrier and and other holding me close to the wall. It was the climax of my life. Using not just my wits, but my powers to sense and avoid danger. Percy considered me nothing but an omega, time to prove him wrong.
