Percy's POV:

Being lead to Tristan was the easy part, calming him down was another story. "Tristan, he's your mate, he won't reject you."

"I don't think he feels the same attraction as I do. Hell I didn't even know I was gay until I met Parker." He started to pace in his luxury black suite with a crimson red tie. His natural bronze hair was slicked back in a very formal manor that showed off his beautiful sapphire eyes. He looked good, now all he had to do was act it.

I was nearly tempted to growl and order him to calm down, but I told Max I would change.

"Where is Parker now?" I asked him, trying to lead his attention to something else.

"He's in the back with three guards, playing with Dirt." Ugh, why did everyone adore that pile of shit? It's literally made of dirt.

"And when you see him what do you feel?"

He stopped pacing. "I feel like I'm drowning, I can't get enough air. He's everything I'm not, he's so perfect and he deserves better than a dog for a mate. I don't want to scare him, I don't want to lose the half of myself that I never had. What if he's angry I kept this from him?" He rambled on.

"I can promise you that keeping this from him any longer will do you both no good. Just look at you," I said with a hand gesture. "Your a mess because you've been away from your mate for long periods of time and then back together for short periods of time. Your body is craving the reassurance of the mark. Don't make the same mistake I did with Max, you need to talk to Parker."

A pain filled expression took over his face," ok."

I slapped him on the back, "that a man, here, I'll walk over with you."

When we first arrived at the back garden, Parker was wrestling with Dirt like he would a dog. He had dirt smeared on his cheek, but he was oblivious to it like a child would be. He was smiling as bright as the stars that watched above his head. It was the happiest I'd seen him since he found his sister. If I were anymore human I'd feel guilty about Parker's fate. But I am human enough to give these mate's one night together before I seal Parker's for good. It's what he would want, dying for his sister.

When he saw that we were there, I told the guards they were no longer needed. Bowing they left the three of us alone. Parker got to his feet not in the least bit frazzled. His hair was sticking up funny on one side of his face and his smile lop sided. He gave a shy wave directed toward Tristan. Parker blushed like a boy seeing his crush in the hallway. With a shy wave he said,"hey Tristan."

Tristan's fear melted because of the sheer cuteness of Parker's face. I knew he was ready to tell him.

Tristan stepped forward, as if I wasn't present during their moment. "Parker -"

An unexpected 'bang' rang out in the garden. I wipped around seeing a Nytari Hunter with a silver gun. It took me only three seconds to claw his throat open. Hands bloodied and shaking, I gathered the strength to turn around. At first everyone seemed fine, and then Parker brought his hand up to his chest. Red seeped through the white button down shirt, and fatigue immediately shadowed his eyes.

"NO!" A broken man wailed. Before Parker could collapse, Tristan was there to catch him. Breaking to his knees, he desperately tried to stop the bleeding.

"No, you can't die yet!" I shouted. This isn't part of the plan. It's not his time!

Parker's chest rose up in down with irregular breaths. Meanwhile the Mate he didn't knew he had, began to slip into complete and utter fear. His second half was dying in his arms and he was helpless to lessen the pain. "P-Parker, hang on," he demanded. "It's not your time. It's not your time," he rambled on.

Parker coughed, blood dripping down the corner of his virgin lips. "The sky..."

"What?" Tristan asked, trying to grasp what was happening.

"...it would make a beautiful painting." Parker was starting to lose consciousness.

"No you can't leave me Parker! Your my mate!" Tristan revealed, shouting all his emotion deep into the night. "Your mine, your mine, the moon goddess can't have you! Not yet, not yet," he started to cry.

Parker moved his hand, weakly tugging something out of his pocket. Tristan sniffed, opening the strange napkin thing. Inside looked something like paste? Tristan snapped his head to Parker. "I never knew I was gay. Must explain all the painting I do." He took after his sister in the sense that he loved to crack jokes when it was least appropriate.

Gun shots rang out by the ballroom. My blood ran hot. My Hazel was in there...

Max's POV:

All at once I felt the world crumble in my bones. Watching helplessly from the side lines, woman in exotic ball gowns and men in sharp suites blurred together in a bloody mess. Being in this world for so long, I already knew who was attacking. The Nytari, human hunters.

Based on the pale, zombie expressions I knew it was not by their own will, though I doubt they would object to killing a group of wolves any day. The floor was hazardous between the spilled blood and liquor on the floor. Woman in
heels kept slipping, their mates trying to drag them to safety.

My mate was no where in sight. I honesty didn't know if I wanted him to be after everything Gabe had told me. From my knowledge of the Nytari, they would most likely have the entire building surrounded. Being alone was just as dangerous as being in a group.

I couldn't move myself to safety. I was frozen, watching my people die in a hail of silver rain. This was a massacre, and for a moment I thought to myself...Maybe we need a monster to slaughter monsters. On cue Percy appeared, swooping in and scooping me up in his arms. I don't know how he managed to get to me, but he held me in his arms charging through the back doors and to safety. A few guards cleared a path ahead of us, shielding us from charmed Nytari soldiers.

Even minutes deep into the forest, I could still hear the gunfire in the back of my mind. Haunted thoughts of all our friends who were in there, Gabe, Amani, Kaneza, Andolf -

"The others," I sputtered, still locked in Percy's arms. He didn't stop running and I wouldn't ask him to.

"We don't have time to find them. As soon as I get you to a safe place we are initiating the plan, we're burning the most powerful Charm Speak and putting an end to the war. Being separated might just work in our favor."

Under the stars, a series of judges against the black sky, we continued to run with time. Even after the shock of what happened, I could still feel Gabe's piece of evidence burning in my pocket.

It was waiting to be opened.
