If my glare was deadly, Percy would be six feet under right now. I stood, shivering in the middle of a pond. He leaned casually against a tree, the face he wore was so calm it made me angry beyond belief.
"Sweetheart," he sang," come out of there before you catch a cold." I huffed, my wet hair hiding most of my scowl. After few heated moments of staring he rolled his eyes. "Either you come out of there or I have one of my men break your brothers arm."
I was too angry for his threats to have any affect on me. "And you wonder why I fucking left!" My voice was edged with the cold that was spread across my body. I was shaking furiously, my wet clothes victim to the mid fall water.
His eyes narrowed," you have seen me turn a man into a slave and murder a rouge. The reason you left was because you found out your brother was here, not because you hate me."
"I left because you betrayed my family-my trust! You give me no voice, your sexist and your cruel to those I care about."
He tilted his head back as if he was bored. "Sweet heart don't you think your being dramatic?"
I felt like I was going to explode. "You Sexist Bastard!"
He raised an eyebrow at my insult,"is this all because you think I'm keeping your brother against his will?"
I stared at him like he had three heads,"you are!"
He scoffed," well I am. But I'm doing it for his own safety. Your idiot of a older brother showed up at my door step. It was keep him quiet and hidden or risk the other Supreme Alphas finding out I was keeping a human. They would have killed him if I hadn't. I was going to let you see him eventually."
I sneered," you were going to make him win the war for you! And you were using me as leverage to get him to do it." My lip quiver at the last sentence. I hadn't realized how hurt I truly was until now.
His bottle-greens shifted to the ground. "If he won the war for us then the Supreme Alphas would need to keep him alive. They can't kill a national hero." He said the last sentence quietly.
I felt my heart pang like a gong. "Why do you do this to yourself? To me?" I asked breathlessly.
His eyes met mine, "what do you mean?"
I swayed in the pond, my skin burning in the cold water. "If you had just told me what was going on. If you had just told me the truth that he was here. We could have avoided all of this. You only hurt yourself and me by not communicating." I gathered my courage. "I need a voice Percy. Why won't you give me a voice?"
He looked conflicted," I've always done it all on my own."
I sighed heavier then I thought I could," we are mates," I announced. "You lean on me and I lean on you. That's how this works."
He let a side smile show,"come on, get out of there. Your shivering and it's making me uneasy." My Hazel eyes looked up at him pleadingly. "ok. I'll try to lean on you more. We can be equals and I actually mean it this time."
His voice was sincere, as were his eyes. I nodded firmly, trudging out of the pond. My clothes hung to me like a second skin and my arms racked with shivers in the cold fall air. As soon as I was out of the pond he pulled me into his chest. Here it was warm and welcoming.
He rubbed my back to warm me up, I could feel him shiver against me. "Max, your freezing."
I gritted my teeth to try and stop my teeth from clattering,"I'd do anything for him. He's my brother."
He sighed against me, pressing me closer to the heat of his chest. I couldn't feel his tingles through the numbness on my skin. Being this close to him I realized-I missed him.
