I ran a hand down my face. Could this kid get any stupider?

"No you fucking moron. A Black Blood can not be killed by a stake to the heart."

His eyes narrowed in defense," how the hell was I suppose to know?"

Parker was seated next to me in my own private car. The driver was a burned servant of mine so I didn't need to worry about him telling anyone about Parker's existence.

"Elder wood can weaken a vampire but nothing wood can kill them. Rip off their head or rip out their heart. Then set them on fire. That's how you kill a Black Blood."

He nodded, his eyes distant as he processed this. "Ok, and-"

"I swear to the goddess if you ask me about garlic I will chain you to the rode and run you over with this car."

My threat reached his ears and got the message across. He shut his mouth firmly, he was predictable... that would need to change. "How close are we?"

"A hour," the driver replied to me. I settled into my seat, soon........ I would have her soon.

"What's my sister's favorite book?" The random question made me stare at him. Maybe he wasn't as predictable as I thought... at least he has potential.

"Excuse me?" I snapped harshly.

He face quirked up into a smug smile,"so you can kiss my sister, but you don't even know her favorite book?"

I leaned forward,"don't get smart with me kid, I won't hesitate to loosen your jaw."

His eyes held worry but he pushed it anyway," you don't know anything about her, do you?" His eyes now held some strange form of pity.

"She's mine. That's all I need to know."

He looked almost sad,"she's human. She's defiant when she wants to be and the kindest person I know. You care about her at all, a trophy or otherwise-just get to know her."

I scoffed at his skepticism toward me," I plan to. As you can see I've been a little preoccupied keeping her protected and running a war. Also taking care of her idiot of a older brother," my reference to him didn't phase him in the slightest.

"When it comes to my little sister, no excuse is a good one."

My mouth rested in a firm line. I could see her in him, the stubbornness, the stupidity to challenge, and the loyalty to family. His Hazel eyes showed me pieces of her, that was the only reason I hadn't broken his jaw hours ago.

In the strangest of ways he was my window to her. His eyes and his eyes only. I'm not saying I want to kiss him, I'm saying he helps numb the pain of her absence. Just a little.

"You have ten seconds to react. A werewolf discovers you are a human, what do you do?" He stiffened, his eyes darting around trying to think of a answer.

"10." His jaw clenched.

"9." It clenched more.

"8." He calmed down and started to actually think.

"7." His face fully settled as his eyes glazed over with thought.

"6." It looked like he was starting to get a plan in motion. His jaw relaxed.

"5."

"Inject him with Wolf-Bane," he answered.

I brushed the stubble on my jaw with my fingers. "Then?"

"Dig a silver knife in his chest while he's weak." I could tell by his tone of voice he didn't like what he was saying.

"Then?"
