Worrisome Times and Kim Coming To Town
━━━━━━━━━
"And where have you two been?" Leo asked as he popped up off the couch. I frowned as I stood with Chase standing in the doorway behind me.
"New-"
"A new place. New to Bree, anyways." Chase covered for me as he poked his head inside. I nodded, trying to keep my eyes at a normal size given that I almost just gave away our location. That was close. No one could know that we were actually in New York. Not yet, anyways.
"Well we've been worried sick." Leo teased as he jumped up from the couch; in our apartment, might I add. I rolled my eyes and pulled my suitcase in just before Chase walked in behind me. He shut the door, soon enough locking eyes with Leo. I watched as he sent Leo a look, silently asking him what he was doing here. He was alone for some strange reason, in our apartment. I crossed my arms over my chest and took a step towards him.
"And just why are you in our apartment?" I questioned, keeping close eye contact with him as he swiped his phone up from off the couch. I wouldn't be surprised if he was texting Adam, the whole reason for the two wanting to come here being they ran out of food somewhere. What other reason would there be as to why he was sitting without the TV on in our place. He didn't even have any good out for that matter. The very Leo in question staring directly at me and shrugging quickly as he pushed his phone into his back pocket.
"I was worried, thank you very much. Did I not make that clear?"
"You didn't, actually. I was still out in the hallway." Chase added as he clasped his hand around the handle on my suitcase and made his way out of the room, leaving me alone with Leo. Fun. Why does everyone instantly assume I'm the best person to talk with people in these situations? Chase, Adam and all the rest of them always leave me alone with whoever is acting weird in the moment. And in this moment, that person was Leo.
"Okay, serious. What's up?" He sighed and threw himself back onto his favorite spot on the couch, my couch. I followed his actions, taking the end and watching him for any sign that something serious was going on. If this was about his 'new' family members, that would be a reasonable... reason for him staying here for a bit. If something like that had happened to me, I would want a little time alone, too.
"I feel like you two are the only ones I can talk to right now." He whispered, almost like he didn't want Chase to hear him. Which, would be weird since he did specifically say 'you two', meaning both Chase and myself.
"About something in particular or just in general?" I wondered aloud. Leo was always confusing with his words, but they usually led somewhere deep in certain situations. And this situation, felt like one of them. One that would bring me some kind of new insight to life that I hadn't considered before. Leo was good for that.
"Both." He breathed as he let his head fall lightly against the back of the couch. I pressed my lips together as I tried to piece things together. He seemed a little off, but I had a pretty good idea why. "Have you ever been worried about someone?"
I nodded warily, wondering if I dare say what I was about to say next. "You mean me and Chase?" I teased, referring to what he had repeated multiple times when we had walked in. Leo placed his hands over eyes at my horrible reference before looking through his fingers to me.
"I'm worried about Kim." He got out, swallowing hard after his words. "I know it's probably nothing, but I saw bruises on the back of her arm. The only person that came to mind when I looked at those, was my dad. He had to have been the one to put them there. I mean, he cheated on my mom, but there had to have been another reason why she made him leave, right? Most people can move past that or at least try a little longer to. But he just had this look in his eye..." He left off, leaving me a little speechless myself. I took in a deep breath as I let his words hit me. He had more than good reason to be worried about Kim. We needed to get her down here, now.
