Kicking and Biting

"Divorce?" Jannel huffed in aggravation as we sifted through the many dresses surrounding us. "He actually wants you two to get divorced? Just because he thought you were out on a date with that guy?" I shook my head, pushing a few shirts out of my way in the process. For some strange reason, Chase's dad and my dad were throwing some sort of party. I barely knew any details about it, but I did know it was going to be pretty big. It was being held at the college ballroom. And when I say ballroom, I mean literally ballroom. As in the fanciest, biggest room/building on campus.
And yes, it is a building. A ballroom building.
"Correction." I started as I looked over my shoulder to Jannel. "He wants an an annulment." I let out a long breath before going back to my sifting. I didn't even know why we were at the mall. Knowing the kind of parties my dad and Davenport had thrown in the past, we would need to dress up more so than this.
"Are you serious?" Caitlyn asked as she popped up into the conversation. "He's just going to get it annulled?"
"Yep." I sighed, spinning around to see three faces just staring back at me. Kim looked more confused than the other two.
"Not to sound stupid, but what's an annulment?" She ventured as she crossed her arms over her chest.
"It basically erases the marriage." Jannel huffed. I wasn't blaming her for being upset. I knew good and well just how upset I was about this whole thing. I hadn't even talked with Chase for almost three days. "Why would he get it annulled? Or better yet, how is he even going to reason getting it annulled?"
"Well, the most important factor." I breathed sarcastically. "We got married in Vegas."
"That is true." Caitlyn said, cracking a small smile. I rolled my eyes.
"The second reasoning, we were technically under the influence of two glasses of champagne when we got married." I finished with a look Jannel's way. She swiftly held up her hands in defense.
"What! I only told you two to drink, I didn't force it down your throats! Plus, how was I supposed to know you would leave and got get married!" Jannel shook her head, crossing her arms over her chest.
"And finally," I paused, "we were only married a couple of weeks." I finished. Caitlyn nodded as she leaned back against a nearby rack of clothes. Jannel on the other hand, looked to be insanely worried and confused.
"How did I get into a fight with Leo that fast?" She asked in astonishment, her face scrunching up at the thought. "We've only been married a few weeks! And how are you two-"
"We just are, okay." I interrupted, not particularly wanting to talk about it. He had asked to split up. He didn't want to be with me anymore. Just the fact that Chase had indicated we see other people had me torn up inside.
Rebecca was the other people. I didn't need to hear it from him.
"Did you two even talk about this? Like, not texting?" Kim asked, digging a little deeper. Gish, call me a role model. I was trying to show Kim things would get better here, not worse. It all ended up with four of us living in a two bedroom dorm on a college campus. That being when three out of the four of us are graduated.
"I called him right after I got the text." I started once again, pushing the thought of finding a dress for this stupid party aside for a second. "I pushed Leo out into the hall, called Chase, tried to work things out, but he wasn't budging. I messed up a while back, and I don't blame him for still being mad about it. I would feel exactly the same if he had done something like that to me. We were in a serious relationship, and I went and ripped it all apart."
