I could feel my heart beating a mile a minute as I glanced out the window and into the backyard. The words backyard wedding kept playing in my mind, but as I looked, I couldn't see our backyard. Everything had been transformed into the most perfect wedding venue that I had ever seen. Chase and I had spent so long the last couple days just wrapping those little lights all around the trees. We'd even had people come over to install a few light posts leading up to the dock along the lake. That's where the alter was set up.
I jumped back from the window as I caught Chase looking up at me. I could see that little smirk on his face. I knew I wasn't completely hidden up here, especially given the fact that these windows were huge, but Chase couldn't see me. We had somehow kept away from each other all day while the both of us were just staying here at the house. I'd be honest in saying this, it was weird not seeing him all day long.
"You getting nervous?" Leo called as he and Adam walking in from the back door, Jack and Kim following behind them. Adam and Leo had been hanging out with Chase up at the alter for about twenty minutes. This while Jack and Kim had insisted they help with last minute touches. It seemed like those two always did that at weddings.
"No." I said simply as I crossed my arms over my chest. "Are you nervous, best man?" I shot back, getting a snide smile from Leo as he pulled a small box out from his pocket. I frowned and took it from him, opening it to see the C necklace Chase had given me so long ago. I flipped the necklace over, the words '20 Years Later, You're Mine Forever' written onto the back. I bit into my lip to contain my smile at the words. It was shocking how long we'd known each other. Or the fact that we were finally getting married.
"I kept telling him to write 'they're love is just so magical' on the back, but he wouldn't do it." Leo laughed as he picked up the necklace, walking around behind me and placing the necklace around my neck. "I thought this was way too cheesy." Leo muttered again.
"So is your face." Adam mocked with a wide grin. I frowned. What was up with this guy? He and Leo seemed fine two seconds ago. Had I missed something?
"My face is way too cheesy..." Leo repeated, taking a step forward to stand next to me near the window. Adam nodded.
"It was the first comeback that came to mind." He shrugged before a stern look took to his face. "You do not insult a man or a woman on their wedding day." He ordered, getting a laugh from Kim.
"You guys are weird." She teased as she made her way back to the bathroom to check on Jannel and Caitlyn. Leo pulled his phone out of his pocket Kim left just me and the three boys in the main room. It was still pretty empty here on the first floor, Chase and I still had a lot of furnishing to do. We'd been so focused on the wedding. But we had the old television and couch down here on this level.
