Sleeping on Toast?

━━━━━━━━━

"So what are we going to sleep on?" I asked as I tossed my bags into the corner of Leo's old room. Kim and I had decided to share while Adam took over his old room. It seemed like a better plan than one of us sharing a room with Adam... Yeah.

"Blankets." Adam decided smartly as he slid down the wall and sat down on the floor. He held a bright smile on his face as he looked over to me. I shook my head, trying to silently tell him that his plan, wasn't exactly a winner. "What?"

"Where are the blankets at, smarty?" I teased as I threw my hands up in the air. "There's nothing here." I tried again, teasing him. If only those two wouldn't have moved out. There would be beds, and chairs, and couches. Pretty much everything you need in a house.

"Well I can see that." He snipped back, crossing his arms over his chest stubbornly. He's just been in a weird mood all day. This kid.

"Have you talked with Caitlyn?" I asked as I pushed my suitcase into the closet at the side, turning back to watch as Adam shook his head.

"I tried, like four times." He started, looking down to his hands as he fumbled around with his fingers. "I called her twice, texted her thrice, and then finally left Kim here for a little bit and went over there. I kept knocking, knowing she was in there, and she wouldn't open the door."

"That would be five times, then." I pointed out, getting a small smile on my face. "And thrice?"

"I'm not counting that last time cause I don't even think it got through to her." Adam scoffed as he tugged his arms in closer to himself. "And it means three times."

"Sure." I said with a head shake. "You do know you have a key to the apartment, right?" I asked, hoping he at least tried opening the doors. He nodded slowly, leaving me more confused. "Don't tell me she changed the locks already. Cause if she's that mad about us kissing that long ago, imagine what Chase is going to-"

"She didn't change the locks, Bree." Adam cut in with a small smile. "She had a chair up against the doorknob. That method works a lot better than I thought."

"I've actually never done that." I said, leaning back against the wall on the other side of the room.

"Not even when you were a teenager? Didn't your dad annoy you like my parents annoyed me?" Adam asked as I shook my head.

"Nope. My dad was almost never home. He and Davenport were always working, and Chase and I didn't have moms. Chase was actually the only reason that I may have needed to use a chair. But he was never that persistent. Or maybe he was and I just never questioned it cause we were each other's only friend." I went on, watching as Adam laughed along with my words.

"Same with Leo." Adam agreed.

"Okay." Kim started as she made her way back into the room, holding her water bottle in her hands. We had stopped off at the grocery store on our way over here, just to grab a few things for the next couple days. Who knew how long we were going to be here. "We need furniture. Who has the most money?" She asked.

Suddenly, all eyes were on me. Only Adam was supposed to know, I thought. Then again, we did have Kim stay over at my rich father's mansion up until this morning. How dumb am I? We watched Clueless in our home theater. Home theater.
