June of 2017
"Chase I can't do this." I whined, throwing my head back as the tears began to stream down my face. He shook his head, leaning in and gripping my hand tightly as he got me to open my eyes back up to him.
"You can, and you will." He ordered with a sly smile. I could still see the compassion in his eyes, not matter how much he wanted to deny it. "You can't keep that baby inside of you forever."
"Is the child among us yet?" Adam whispered as he poked his head inside the room. I'm assuming he got his answer when the nurse slammed the door in his face. I was in labor for crying out loud!
I couldn't contain myself as I sucked in that last, deep breath, uncomfortably feeling the baby coming out of me. "Chase." I cried as I clutched into his hand, swallowing hard and watching as he leapt forward to catch the newborn child. I smiled, Chase cutting the umbilical chord before the nurses swept our child away to wash her off. I huffed out a long breath as Chase came back to my side. "That was too much." I whispered, Chase handing me a towel. I nodded and gladly took the thing before whiling off my face. I hate labor. I don't think I can have another kid. That sucked. The nurse walked over a few minutes after with a clipboard in hand.
"She's a girl." The nurse quipped with a wide grin. "She was born on June 25th at one sixteen in the afternoon." The nurse paused as she looked back at our baby that they had just placed on the scale. "She's four pounds and three ounces." She nodded to herself before she wrote out the numbers on the paper. She glanced back up at us, an expectant look in her eyes. "Do we have a name yet?" She smiled. Chase and I shook our heads.
"We have a few, but we thought we'd know when we saw her." I replied shyly. She nodded, pulling off a small wristlet from the paper.
"Baby Davenport it is." She smiled as she spun around, clipping the small wristband around the baby's arm before they carried her over to us. I smiled, holding out my arms before they placed her in my lap. She was amazing. "We'll leave you two, three, alone. I'll come back to check on you all in a bit." The nurse nodded as her and the doctor waved. The two exited the room, leaving Chase and I alone for the first time since my water broke in the house. Even then Leo raced right over and continually poked me in the stomach. He evidently did the same thing with Jannel and Caitlyn.
"Is it too much to say she's perfect?" I whispered, Chase taking a seat on the bed next to me. He shook his head, the look in his eyes was the best as he put his left arm around me.
"Never." He whispered as he kissed my cheek gently. "The only thing she needs is a name." He teased, sending me a small smirk as he pulled out his phone. We had made a list a few days ago. "We could always name her after your mother." Chase relayed, a suggestive eyebrow raise following his words. I shook my head as I kept my eyes on our baby.
"I love my mom, but it doesn't fit. I don't think your mom's name does either." He nodded surely.
"I would never name her after my mom." Chase muttered. I frowned, watching as she lifted her little fingers to her mouth. I really hope she won't be a nail bitter. "We're still agreed on the middle name?" Chase asked as he let me look at his phone. I nodded, looking away from the two with the sound of the door opening. I watched as our dad's crept in, Adam and Leo waving as the door came to a close. How nice of them to give us time alone with the second craziest twosome. Adam and Leo being the first.
"Hey." My dad's eyes were as wide as they could have possibly opened as he tip toed over. "Who's this little munchkin?" He reached out, our baby grabbing onto his finger.
"Adorable." Mr. Davenport affirmed as he set his hands on my dad's shoulders. "What's her name?" He whispered, keeping his eyes on our baby.
"We haven't decided." Chase replied, watching as a sly smirk hit his face.
"What about Dana?" Mr. Davenport suggested. Chase's eyes went teasingly wide as he shook his head. My dad on the other hand fully turned around to face his best friend.
"Dana?" He scoffed as he crossed his arms over his chest. "Why Dana? Because it sounds like Donald?"
"No." Mr. Davenport huffed. "Why? You want the kids to name the girl Penelope?" I could feel my eyebrows furrow with that one.
"What?" Chase and I asked in synch.
"Why... Penelope?" Chase ventured, the edges of his mouth curving with the question. My dad shook his head as he turned back around to us.
"That's what I wanted to name you." He smiled as he pointed to me. "You're mother wanted to name you after her grandmother, though. You look like a Bree, too." He shrugged.
"Alright." I nodded. The door opened again, Adam and Leo finally making their way inside. Our baby started thrashing around with all the movement. Thanks guys. You're really helping the newborn stay relaxed.
"We'll be back." My dad issued as he leaned around Chase to kiss the top of my head. He patted Chase on the back before he and Mr. Davenport scurried out of the room. Our baby calmed down as Adam and Leo pulled up chairs at the side of the bed. I had to admit, these two were really taking on the 'dad' look. They were each wearing collared shirts. Chase already did that.
"Who is this-" Adam started in a high pitched baby voice.
"We don't have a name." Chase sighed, interrupting him. Adam huffed as he leaned back in his chair.
"Do you two have anything other than Davenport?" Leo teased, getting a sure glare from me.
"We have the middle name." Chase said, instantly regretting his decision to tell the two when they each sat up in their chairs.
"What is it?" Leo pried, a creepy grin hitting his face. This kid.
"Valor." I whispered, trying to make sure our baby stayed calm. Everyone had her all worked up.
"Like medal of valor?" Leo scoffed, a kidding smile on his face. "Why? You want her to join the army?" Adam nodded.
"Army, navy, Air Force, marines." The two started chanting. I rolled my eyes.
"It's definitely not that." I laughed quietly, luckily getting them to stop... That. "It sounds cool, and it means bravery." I muttered. Chase nodded. That was literally why we picked it.
"I guess we'll leave you two to it then." Leo mocked, sending us a knowing look as the two got up from their chairs. I smiled as Adam turned back, waving at our baby as they made their way to the door. "Why didn't we get a room like this when we had the babies?" Leo questioned as he glanced around. "The blue gives it a nice aura." He nodded before the two left us alone in the room again. I could feel my eyes widen as I looked up at Chase.
"Aura Valor Davenport." I whispered, watching as a smile played out on his face.
"Aura." He nodded, grabbing onto her small hand. "It's perfect."
