Apartments and Agreements

━━━━━━━━━

I pushed out a breath as the three of us walked on down the hallway. We walked until the two stopped in front of the door I had seen all too many times before. So many memories in one place. I rolled my eyes and slummed back against the wall as Adam and Kim walked up ahead of me. I had somehow forgotten how exhausting apartment hunting was. Especially since the three of us hadn't slept last night. Watching movies, eating, and for Adam and I, worrying about our significant others had taken up our sleeping time.

I knew for a fact that Caitlyn wouldn't have let this little bit of information die. She would have forced it on Chase without much of a reasoning behind it. All she had to do was simply tell him that Adam and I had kissed, whether or not she knew the specific the time, and Chase's jealousy would kick in. I didn't blame him in a way, Adam and I did date, fake or not, for a little bit. It just sucked that this had to come out right after our fight. Right before we said we needed to talk.

"The door won't open!" Adam cried as he began to beat against the door. I rolled my eyes and pushed up off the wall, walking over to the two and pushing Adam away from the door. He was very territorial of this apartment. Somehow, Adam and Leo's old place was available. Shocker given this was one of the nicest ones on campus. Plus, my dad said Kim could stay here by herself. Even better. No sarcasm intended.

"Adam." I said with another eye roll as I clicked the door open. His eyes went wide as he watched the door swing open, wondering inside ahead of Kim and I to see just what had happened to the place since he had left. It had been quite some time since I had seen this place myself.

I walked inside to see it was, literally, exactly the same. Absolutely nothing had changed. It was actually creepy how it felt to be back here. The only thing missing would have to be Adam and Leo's furniture, which, they split up in the move. This was one of the most terrifying things ever. No jokes.

"Has anyone even lived here since you guys moved out?" I questioned aloud as I spun around in the center of the living room we had spent most of college in. Adam shrugged, turning as Kim closed the door behind us.

"Your dad said they'd had two boys moved in here for this semester but they both transferred to an out of state college. He never said where exactly they went." Kim replied as she pulled out the rent information. She let her eyes scan over the papers in her hands before looking up to me, a small frown on her face. "What's wrong with it?" She asked, a small smile playing on her lips as she looked between us. I shook my head, brushing my hair back over my shoulders.

"It's just weird because this is almost exactly how we left it." I explained before crossing my arms over my chest. I glanced from side to side, only seeing that a small line of paint had been scuffed off the wall over by the door. "The wall's just a little more beat up than before." I brushed off before Adam followed my gaze and lunged towards it.

"What!" He cried as he ran his fingers over the spot. I rolled my eyes and walked over to Kim's side. "Bastards." Adam muttered before looking back to us. "Let's go check the bedrooms. They probably ripped the wallpaper down." He mocked before trotting off down the hallway. I frowned, Kim laughing at my face as I walked after Adam.

"You never had wallpaper!" I called before entering Leo's old room, Adam walking around and checking every nook and cranny.

"Well if we did, they would have torn it down." He scoffed as he pointed to the closet door. "Look at this! Another scratch!" I could feel myself laughing as Kim walked in and glanced it over.
