Twin Angels and Women in Black - Part 1

━━━━━━━━━

Chase's POV

"Your hands are all sweaty." Rebecca shivered as she coiled away from me for the third time. That was something I wouldn't miss once we were finally inside. I took in a much needed deep breathe as the two of us made our way up to the front door. No doubt I was nervous. I was bringing another girl tonight, to an event hosted by my father and my ex father in law. To offset the already lovely evening, there was light, frilly music playing inside. The kind you would picture when thinking of a more elite event. Couldn't have picked a better playlist, dad.

"This outfit isn't working." Rebecca huffed as she threw her head back. "Is there some other reason that I couldn't wear black except for the fact that it's-"

"There's no other reason, Rebecca." I interrupted, taking her hand once more. I could feel her hand shaking against my all too sweaty one. That was weird. Bree had never complained if I had been nervous. But Rebecca on the other hand, had made about ten sarcastic comments about it on the way over here.

"Well I'm about a hundred percent sure I could have gotten away with wearing black." She sighed, the two of us walking in a general silence up to the main doors. "My leather jacket would have gone great with this dress, by the way." I nodded slowly.

"Yeah." I brushed off, lightly looking over Ed all too short red casual dress. She probably hadn't been to anything this fancy before. "You said that about ten times." I had to practically bite my tongue to keep from lashing out at her in a worse way. Some of the littler things were beginning to get on my nerves.

"I'm sorry." She muttered, her gaze falling down to the floor as we walked. "I just want to be comfortable. I mean, I'm meeting your parents-"

"First off," I stopped her, "you're meeting my dad and my step mom." I watched as her lips fell into a flat line as I spoke, the two of us stopping at the door. "And my step brother."

"What about your real mom?" She shot a new question back, ripping her hand away from me for a second as she crossed her arms over her chest. She seemed half disgusted with me. But the other half of her still seemed incredibly interested in getting to know me better.

"That's a story for another day." I huffed, buttoning up the middle button on my blazer. I hated having to retell that story. It was so easy when hanging out with the guys. They all already knew the story. "You'll also be meeting-"

"Bree's father and soon to be step mom." She snipped, rolling her eyes a little. "You just so happened to leave out the portion that you and her had been friends since you were five. And that you had a two year relationship before you got married." Her arms were crossed tightly against her chest, her eyes darting over to me angrily. How was she this defensive over something like this?

"We've known each other for a matter of days, Rebecca." I brushed off once more. "I was jus getting around to the specifics."

"You also failed to tell me that you dated Danielle." She led in once again. "And that Bree dated Ethan." I shook my head, feeling my nerves only growing as she grilled me.

"I asked Danielle out, but I never went on a date with her." I clarified as I let out a long breathe. "Bree and Ethan dated for about three months our junior year of college."
