Twin Angels and Women in Black - Part 3

━━━━━━━━━

I could feel my heart beating a mile a minute as I pushed back through the kitchen doors. There was no way I was staying in there any longer.

The two simply stood there, Jack and Jessica, looking into each other's eyes. They were far too in love. I wouldn't have been able to put them together in a regular situation, but after seeing them together... You just knew it was real.

I usually don't even get crushes on guys, but I knew this time, I was in deep. There was just something about Jack. Maybe it was his hair, or the small bit of his personality that I was able to see, but I knew I felt something. And because I felt something, I couldn't watch those two any longer. Not one bit of me could bare to stand there and see those two together. Especially when I had such a crush on Jack.

I looked up to see Bree, Adam, and Leo all staring intently at me. Bree sent me a sort of kidding smile as she motioned for me to walk over. I must have stopped walking all together while I was thinking of Jack. I sent the three a reassuring smile, tossing the juice bottle back and forth between my hands just as Leo started to point at me.

"You found juice." Leo teased as he crossed his arms over his chest. Bree laughed and nodded as I made my way over, the few of them returning to whatever conversation they had been having as I slipped into a seat at the table near Bree. I could see her looking over to me, not so discretely making sure I was okay. A look of confusion quickly took her over as she looked away from me. Bree swiftly dismissed Adam and turned towards me once more.

"You okay?" Bree teased as she took a step forward and punched my arm gently. I sighed and slummed back in my seat further.

"Yeah." I breathed as I pushed the apple juice back and forth. Bree nodded, her eyes falling back towards the kitchen.

"Did something happen when you went back there?" She asked, a frown forming on her face as she pulled out the chair next to me and took a seat. I shook my head. I didn't want to burden her with my problems, but I still felt like I needed to talk with someone about this.

"I wasn't back there alone." I started, feeling my mind go fuzzy at even the thought of it all. I should have never gone back there. "Someone else came into the kitchen just as I walked in." I watched as the worry grew on Bree's face.

"Was it-"

"No, no. No one like that." I cut her off. I didn't even want to imagine what it would be like if my dad found me at a place like this. Especially when the bruise he left on my arm still being visible. Or the fact that I wasn't even emancipated yet.

"Who was back there?" Bree prodded again with a smile. She knew just as well what had me all flustered. I had seen her this way so many times, it was a surprise she hadn't been able to tell sooner.

"This guy." I stopped as I glanced back to the doors of the kitchen. I could just make out the two love birds tossing towels back and forth as they set up their trays. "His name is Jack. He goes to school here, is way too old for me, and worst of all, he has a girlfriend." I rambled as I tapped my fingernail against the table. I watched as Bree got a kind of giddy look on her face.

"You like someone." She mussed happily as she poked my arm with her index fingers. I quickly pushed her away, shaking my head repeatedly as I tried to keep her voice down. There was no way I was letting anyone else hear about this.
