Well Since We've Never Tried It
━━━━━━━━━
Kim's POV
"You're serious?" I laughed as we walked along the sidewalk. I had to say, I was taking quite the liking to the campus at Mission Creek University. Along with that, I had made a couple new friends to boot. I wasn't complaining.
"Serious." Amanda said as she shook her head and continued to play around with the papers laying on top of her binder. Amanda Grey was an incoming freshmen who had received early admission like me. So far, I've been able to grasp the fact that she's a bit of a klutz, is completely unorganized and indecisive, but is one of the nicest and most relatable people I've ever met. Maybe even more so since we're both tall and blond.
"So he just went right back to coloring after that?" I went on, feeling my laughter grown as I pictured the scene she was laying out for me. I had only stepped out of our beginners art class for a minute before some kid in our class decided that he was going to challenge the teacher. Something about how we should be learning to color outside the lines.
"Yup." She chirped with a small smile before the wind came up behind us. Her papers flew out and away from us at every angle.
"Amanda!" I teased before bolting out to the side and onto the grass to pick up the few papers that had been tossed near me. She laughed and threw her backpack and binder onto the sidewalk, swiftly racing out in front of her to catch her notes.
"I can't help it Kim!" She yelled after me as I stood back up straight. I smiled as I watched her collect the rest of her papers. She quickly ran back over to me as I handed her the papers. I rolled my eyes before feeling a light tap on my shoulder.
Warily, I slowly turned around to find Jessica Marano standing behind me. I hadn't seen her since the orientation our first time in campus for the summer. "Hi Kim." She smiled brightly before looking around me to Amanda. "Whose this?" She asked sweetly as she sent Amanda a wave.
"Amanda Grey." I started as I stepped aside. "We met in beginners art." I relayed quickly as the two shook hands.
"It's nice to see that Kim's made some friends." Jessica said happily. "I'm Jessica. I met Kim at the ball for the incoming deans." Jessica rambled as she tossed her hands out to the side momentarily. "Did she tell you that she's related to one of them?" Jessica continued, trying to make conversation. Amanda nodded.
"Yeah, actually she did. We've been talking a lot about our families lately." Amanda replied, sending me a sort of knowing smirk as she did. Amanda's parents had just finalized their divorce in January earlier this year before her only brother and her father got into a car accident. They both died, and right afterwards her mother remarried. She's not crazy about her two new step brother's and her sport fanatic step dad. They all don't exactly see eye to eye since Amanda's hoping to jump into fashion or dance.
"Well good." Jessica concluded with a nervous smile. She took in a breathe before turning to me once more. "Would you mind if I talked with you for a second? I just had something I wanted to ask you." She said before pressing her lips together. I could feel my eyes narrow before I spun around and leaned in towards Amanda.
"Should I?" I whispered as I handed Amanda her binder from off the ground. Amanda laughed quietly ad nodded.
"You act like she's going to kill you or something." She whispered before taking a step back and sending Jessica a smile. "It was nice meeting you!" She called before the girl was off again, this time, heading towards the dance studio. I shook my head before turning back to Jessica.
