You Don't Even Like Coffee!
━━━━━━━━━
I rolled my eyes, picking up my fake coffee and taking a sip as he continued to go on and on about his favorite memories of me. That's all he had really been talking about for the past forty five minutes I had spent with him. Not that I didn't enjoy hearing about all the times I had screwed up in college, but this was getting a little out of hand.
I had thought this would be a nice get together. One filled with laughter, something like I would see on TV. I was wrong there.
"Was there anything you actually liked about me, Sebastian?" I interrupted, cutting off his story about some time Adam, Chase and I had confused a chemical formula during chem lab. He laughed and shook his head. He was acting like he hadn't made fun of me for the past hour.
"I think you took that all the wrong way." He started, setting down his disposable coffee cup in front of himself. That was another thing, he had gotten a to-go cup. Maybe I was guilty of it to, but it was kind of offending me. Like he had to run away somewhere during our conversation or something.
He had somehow wrapped me into going to this coffee shop downtown. It was an incredibly small, barely noticeable place just a few blocks from campus. Apparently everyone had been there before, except the four of us. Never once had Chase, Adam, or Leo ever asked specifically for coffee though. Ever. Then again, I vaguely remember Leo saying something about asking Jannel out here...
"Well how was I supposed to take it? You were laughing at practically every mistake I've ever made." I pointed out stubbornly, crossing my arms over my chest. The list goes further than just the chemistry accidents, and he had somehow been able to mention all of them. Just when I thought I had been the only crush keeping tabs on him, he surprised me once again. He shook his head, allowing his elbows to rest against the table as he let the dramatics really set in.
"Those were all good memories for me, not the laughable portion of course. But, with every one of those memories, all I can see is your smile. Yeah, maybe it was funny to everyone, but it was especially funny to you. I know you can get embarrassed easily, but I know for a fact that you laugh about it later. That's one of the best qualities I've ever seen in anyone I've ever met." Sebastian covered with a confident smile my way. I could feel myself blushing as I shook my head.
No, there was only one person that was aloud to talk to me that way. Only one person that could ever give me compliments like that... Even though he hasn't lately. But deep down, that guy, was my best friend. Chase and I were, and always had been best friends. The romantic relationship was an awesome benefit because of how long I'd been in love with him, I wasn't going to deny that. But it'd be nice to hear stuff like this from Chase every once in a while.
"So you think of me a lot." I started in with a leading tone, sending him a small smirk as I took another sip of my hot chocolate. As far as he knew, I'd ordered coffee before he'd gotten here. I can at least pretend to be mature. Not like some college graduate in her twenties that still gags at the sight of a frothy coffee drink. Some white girl I am.
"You could say that." He agreed shyly, his sight falling to the small wooden table in between the two of us. "I know I'm thinking about you right now. And I know for a fact I'll be thinking about you for the remainder of today." He went on, a sickly sweet attitude about him. What a flirt. No wondered I used to fawn over him in college.
