Surprise, Surprise - Part 1

━━━━━━━━━

"Hello my lovely daughter." My dad greeted as he ushered me into the house. I could feel a sort of uneasiness fill me as he shut the door behind me, my dad leading me into the kitchen almost directly after. "You want something to drink? I heard the good news about you and Chase-"

"What good news exactly?" I asked, sending my dad a knowing look as I hopped up on the counter in the kitchen and took a seat. My dad scurried off towards the refrigerator, glancing back at me for a quick second. "Water?" I shrugged. I literally just walked in and he was already trying to force liquid down me. "Nobody told you I was pregnant, did they? Because I'm definitely not-"

"No." My dad interrupted as he shut the fridge, walking over and handing me a water bottle. With everyone else being pregnant, it wouldn't be a surprise it word got around that I was pregnant too. I'm actually happy I'm not pregnant right now. Sounds like a lot of work for someone like me... Or Leo, for that matter. My dad leaned back against the counter next to me as I tossed the bottle back and forth between my hands. "All I heard, was that you two were finally going to have a proper wedding. Of course Donny and I would like to see grandchildren on the table for you too..." He left off, an almost disgusted look taking over his face. His mind could have only gone one place. Obviously setting babies on tables by themselves wasn't a good thing. He shook his head quickly. "We're just getting older, and we like to see you two finally settling down."

"After twenty years of friendship." I mused teasingly, getting a wide smile from my dad.

"Exactly. You see how long you left us waiting!" He waved me forward, taking the liberty of leading me to the back patio near the pool.

"As opposed to Chase and I getting married in middle school." I tried again, getting a glare back from my dad as he popped open the back door.

"That would have been the more humane thing." I rolled my eyes at that. And I call this guy my father. Oh how well he's taught me. He shook his head before walking outside. It was almost four thirty, the sun was starting to go down. So it was pretty warm outside, and dusk is probably my favorite time to be out here near the pool.

"What did you call me over here for?" I asked as I followed my dad down the steps to the sitting area. He shrugged as he pulled out a few of the chairs, allowing me to sit just across from him at the table. He had called me an hour ago saying to get over here as soon as I could. He apparently had something to tell me that 'just couldn't wait'. "You said it was important." I hinted again as he took a seat. He nodded, glancing out around the back yard and over into the Davenport's.

"Me and Donny heard you kids bought the pizza place this morning." He started, the man setting his water bottle down on the table. "It's a pretty good investment. If anyone will know what to do with it, it's you four." He nodded once more. I frowned as I watched him. Something was definitely up. Leo had called to tell Mr. Davenport about the pizza place late last night after the four of us had eaten dinner. Then today my dad calls to talk? Little too late to stop us from buying a pizza parlor, dad.

"But you didn't ask me over to talk about that?" I asked, trying to get him to talk. He was hiding something. He usually just came out and told me things. It was weird he was holding back. "What's up dad?"

"You caught me." He said, a sly smile growing on his face. My dad reached back into his pocket, pulling out one small box. I could feel my eyebrows furrow together as he set the box out on the table, the man leaning back in his chair once again. "Open it." He nodded, pointing to the box that was now sitting in front of me. The box looked like it held some sort of jewelry.
