"Ashley..." I said hesitantly reaching out to the place she stood before the lights went out.
"I'm here." She said and got my hand.
I let out my breath, but paranoia was still eating me alive. I mean, it could easily just be that the electricity went out, but if I learned anything from the past few months of my life is that, in my case, nothing just happens. Nothing is a coincidence. As I tried to get my thoughts together as alcohol still stirred my blood, I heard a crash followed by screams. I tensed. It couldn't be that they found me, right? I mean, how?
I walked to the window looking out as my eyes were slowly getting used to the dark. The slight light outside helped me spot moving shadows all across the street next to the building.
"What's happening?" Ashley whispered intensely as more screams erupted from other side of the door.
"I don't know." I said looking at a van parked outside and the dark figures moving around it. "It looks like someone's robbing the building."
Although I should be worried and probably call the police I felt relieved. They didn't find me. It wasn't them. A shiver went down my spine and the tension from my shoulders dropped.
"Denis, get behind me!" Ashley screamed as the door opened and suddenly I felt a familiar rush of adrenaline.
"Whoa, wait... It's me." I recognized Kiryll's voice and I quickly stopped Ashley from attacking well aware of what she can do.
"What's happening?" I asked as Kiryll locked the door behind him and turned on the flashlight on his phone.
"Apparently this neighborhood isn't the safest and these kinds of robbery's are common." He said as my eyes burned from the bright white light that sharply cut through the dark. "People usually just lock themselves in their apartments. I talked to a girl who lives here today and she also told me that those guys tend to stay all night, so if you wanna catch that plane at 5 am you'll have to leave now Ash." Kiryll said and I looked out the window one more time.
There was so many of these guys and they even had guns.
What the fuck? When I read about this building and area, this was for sure not mentioned."Are you out of your mind?" I shot wondering what the hell was he thinking. "The streets are raving with those guys and they have guns!"
"It's okay. I can handle them." Ashley said looking out the window. "I've dealt with this type of guys before. They think they're so badass, but they rely on their guns they can't even shoot from. It's a piece of cake."
Ashley was always fearless and reckless, but still I wondered what exactly has that 'Night People' club done to her. And the fact that it was Dusty's club didn't make it any better.
"You sure?" I asked her not even trying to talk her out of it. I knew it wouldn't work, she was stubborn as fuck.
"Yes, I am sure Denis." She said rolling her eyes and I sighed as she brought me in for a hug.
"Okay, but... Just stay out of their sight." I said already feeling like I missed her.
She was here not even 24 hours and she already managed to do so much. I mean, I was already feeling a lot better and even considering taking measures into my own hands. I pushed that thoughts away as I focused on my final moments with her for who knows how long.
"We have to go." Kiryll said his voice containing worry, but something like nervousness too. It was weird. "If we get down fast enough you can get out through the back door unnoticed."
"Okay." Ashley turned to him just for a second before turning back to me. "I already miss you." She smiled and I smiled back as she walked out the door with Kiryll.
