Chapter 27
~Legolas's P.O.V.~
We were finally safe from that forsaken mine, but it was not well. We had lost Gandalf. The hobbits were mourning greatly for the loss. I was affected as well, but I stayed strong for the hobbits. When I saw that the stranger was sitting along with Eliana laying on the smooth rocky ground. He looked at Eliana with an expression of shock, grief, and sorrow. I quickly made my way toward the stranger and then looked down at Eliana. I broke down. I could not believe my eyes. I knelled down before Eliana, my unbelieving eyes staring straight at her dead, fragile body. I could feel the tears threatening to fall from my eyes. I refrained them from falling. I held Eliana's body in my hands and stood silent. I failed to protect her, I failed to tell her how I felt, I failed her. She was gone now, and nothing could change that.
"Boromir...get them up" Aragorn said.
"Give them a moment for pity sake!" Boromir yelled.
"By nightfall these hills will be swarming with Orcs...we must reach the woods of Lothlorien...come Boromir Gimli get them up" Aragorn said.
I refused to move on. I could not move on without Eliana at my side. When a hand grasped my shoulder I turned to face Gimli. He only gave me a look of pity, I hated it.
"Come laddie...we must go" Gimli said quietly before looking towards Eliana. "We all cared for her...move on lad...come" Gimli said again.
I refused to move. I stayed in my very spot. The stranger eyed me with curiousity before looking at Eliana.
"She thinks highly of you you know" The stranger said. "I am Sadaron...younger brother to Eliana"
"Sadaron? you can not be Eliana's brother...she once told me that her brother died in birth yet here you are alive" I whispered out.
"The Linfian's believed us to be dead...but in reality our mother used a spell on the eyes of every creature in Linfia...even Eliana's father and Eliana herself" Sadaron said as he slowly stood up. "I am sorry...as a brother...I failed to even protect my only sister...she was destined for many great things...become a kind and loving queen...rule her lands with such grace and kindness...along with her king" Sadaron sighed. "It is a real shame...the trees must have already brought the news of her death to the king by now...he will be devastated"
"Legolas! Come we must move on!" Aragorn shouted loudly.
"I am sorry Eliana...truly sorry" I whispered into her ear softly before setting her down. "We should give her a proper burial" I whispered to Sadaron.
"We can not...we do not have time...Aragorn said this place will be swarming with Orcs...and I fear it to be tru-" Sadaron stopped instantly and his eyes went wide.
"What's wrong?" I asked him quickly.
"Did you hear that?" Sadaron asked quickly.
"Hear what?"
"Shh...Listen to it" Sadaron said again as he stood quiet.
I remained quiet as well, listening to something. Anything. I closed my eyes and slowed down my breathing and remained perfectly silent. Then there was a soft sound, I listened closely this time and it happened again. Louder this time. I opened my eyes and looked over to Sadaron with amazed eyes. The noise was a very faint heart beat.
"It's coming from Eliana" Sadaron said as he laid his head on Eliana's fragile chest.
The others quickly looked at Sadaron as if he was insane but as his head came back up he had a hopeful smile playing at his lips.
"Her heart is beating again!" Sadaron said happily. "Quickly! we have to bind her wound!" Sadaron said quickly.
The fellowship had all gasped and smiled happily for Eliana, but I could sense that they were still in grief from Gandalf loss. My spirits however were risen with joy. I smiled brightly when I had saw Eliana's fragile chest move up and down slowly. Sam had given Sadaron some bandages to bind Eliana's wound. When Sadaron was finished Eliana was beginning to breathe at a more normal rate but she did not awaken yet. I only had to hope that she would wake soon. I needed her by my side.
"The bandages should be enough to keep the wound from opening...but we need to get her some real medical attention" Sadaron said as he slowly picked up Eliana and handed her to me.
"Well then we must reach Lothlorien quickly then" Aragorn said strongly before walking away.
He had to become our leader, He was the strongest of us all, and so he lead us out the mountains and through many hills. We did not rest, we could not rest, no not until we reach the Woods of Lothlorien.
