Chapter 54
~Eliana's P.O.V.~
Morning had come and we still ride through these paths. Everyone was quiet and refused to speak up in these evil mountains. Every now and then Legolas would take quick glances at me to reassure that I was doing fine.
"What kind of army would linger in such a place?" I asked quietly.
"One that is cursed" Legolas answered my question. "Long ago the men of the mountain swore an oath...to the last king of Gondor...to come to his aid...to fight...but when the time came...when Gondor's need was dire...they fled...vanishing into the darkness of the mountain and so Isildur cursed them...never to rest until they had fulfilled their pledge" Legolas explained.
I quickly looked up at the grey skies and then back toLegolas. We had rode for several more hours until we had reached a point where we would continue on foot until we reached the end. A cave lied in the end it was dark and it had this ominous feeling to it. I walked closer to Legolas as we neared the cave.
"The very warmth of my blood seems stole away" Gimli whispered as he neared the cave.
"The way is shut...it was made b those who are dead...and the dead keep it...the way is shut" Legolas stated as he read the inscriptions that were carved onthe door.
I turned my gaze to the door as I heard an ominous voice and with a sudden gust of wind the horses grew nervous. Aragorn and Legolas struggled to keep hold of their reins. They has released the reins and the horses ran off frightened from this evil feeling.
"Brego!" Aragorn called out before turning to the door. "I do not fear death" Aragorn stated bravely as he walked inside into the dark cave.
Legolas was next to enter the caves I took a deep breath and turned to Gimli.
"Well this is unheard-of...an elf will go underground where a dwarf dare not?...oh...oh I'd never hear the end of it"
I suppressed a laugh and quickly ran into the caves with Gimli only to be taken by the waist by a pair of hands.
"What took you so long?" Legolas whispered in my ear.
"I don't know" I whispered back truthfully.
Legolas placed a kiss on my lips before taking my hand and running close behind Aragorn. We had ran through this labyrinth of a cave until we had reached a large opening. Aragorn stopped and looked around holding his torch in different directions to see into the dark. It made me wonder if he knew where he was going. Aragorn quickly ran through another passage and we were reluctant to follow. It felt like hours were spent walking through these dark caves.
"What is it? What do you see?" Gimli asked Aragorn as he stopped by an entrance.
I looked down at the skull covered path I focused on walking around the skulls, not wanting them to crunch under my feet.
"I see shapes of men and of horses" Legolas answered.
"Where?" Gimli asked not able to see anything.
"Pale banners like shreds of cloud spears rise like winter thickets through a shroud of mist....the dead are following...they have been summoned" Legolas said making everyone quicken their pace.
"The Dead?! Summoned?!" Gimli said loudly full of fear. "I knew that...very good...very goo- Legolas!!" Gimli called out and ran ahead to catch up to us as we went ahead.
As we walked ahead we entered a strange room with white fog dressing the ground. Wind blew and the white fog lifted andshaped into hands, that lightly touched me. I carefully swatted the hand away, not wanting to anger the dead and stood by Legolas. I looked back at Gimli and saw him bowing at the hands to keep them away. I tried hard to stifle a laugh when I saw the poor dwarf. The ground beneath us had grown unstable and I felt a hand on my shoulder.
