I sat next to my mom and laid my head on her shoulder. Alejandro and I had made it to the photo session in time. After a few pictures and a poses with Mindy we were escorted back to the reception hall. Alejandro went around the hall greeting family members and I came to sit with my mom. Events from early today played in my mind. Why did I choose to eat? Why did I do this to myself again? The first time going through it wasn't easy, the second time seems harder.
My stomach had gotten upset by now and all I felt like doing was throwing up. I was hoping my mom would notice how upset I was and let me go home early. Mindy wouldn't notice I was gone and everyone else is enjoying themselves. I want to curl up in my bed for the rest of the weekend and cry.
"You okay sweetie?" She suddenly asked me, placing her hand on my cheek.
I nodded. "Just tired mama," I responded.
She sighed. "Aren't we all, baby girl." She watched Mindy and Greg with a gloomy glow in her eyes. Dad couldn't get the day off today for the wedding and mom wasn't happy about it.
I grabbed onto her hand and gave it a light squeeze. "You have to be patient with him, mama. He's good. He's so great." I whispered, with tears filling my eyes.
"Oh, honey." She kissed my hand. "I know, I know he is."
"Be patient with him, please. He works to maintain us and he misses holidays to keep us going. I know it's hard not to have him around but he hasn't stopped loving us." I wanted her to stop being so hard on him, on herself, and on everyone.
She turned her body towards me and cupped my face with her hands. "You don't need to worry about your father and I. We are working on some things, but we haven't given up, not now or ever." She assured me.
"Okay," I whispered.
Her eyes roamed behind me and I turned to look who she was staring at. Alejandro hovered over me with his hands in his pocket and a small grin on his face.
"Do you want to dance with me?" He asked.
I didn't say anything. We agreed to go back to not speaking to each other. He helped me out earlier today by snapping me back to reality but it doesn't mean we are going to go back to how we were. I'm not trying to be complicated but with Xavier being angry at us and with what happened yesterday it's clear there's some type of tension between us.
He gave me a small eye roll. "One dance."
I nodded. "Fine."
He grabbed onto my hand and we walked to the dance floor. Mindy and Greg were dancing in the middle of the stage with a few more couples around them. When Mindy saw Ale and I getting ready to dance, a warm smile formed on her face.
Ale placed a hand on my hip and grabbed my hand. I placed my hand on his shoulder and began moving along with him to the tune of the song.
"Are you okay?" He asked as we moved around the dance floor.
"Yeah." I didn't want him to bring up what he walked into earlier, although he said he wouldn't the curiosity still lingers there.
"I forgot to mention earlier today, you look stunning." He smiled.
I looked away from him, blushing. "Thanks."
He looked handsome in his suit. The tailor fitted his pants nicely to his body and the mint green of made his brown eyes pop out. I remembered he fussed almost a week about how the tailor kept messing up his size on the suit. First, it was way too big, then the suit was too small. It turned out he was in between sizes so she fixed the suit that fit him big and alternated it.
When I saw him this morning, I found myself drooling a bit on how flawless he looked. I'd seen him in tuxedos all the time but today he looked different. The glow he gave off made him seem like a god.
"I promise what happened last night will not happen again. I don't want to strain the relationship Xavier and you have."
"Yeah. It's better if we go back to how we were." I responded.
"It's better this way." He confessed.
I opened my mouth to say something but the music change abruptly and everyone came rushing to the dance floor. Cupid Shuffle started playing and Ale and I departed ways. Ale was pulled back into the dance floor by Mindy to dance.
I sat back down at the table and watched everyone danced to the song, it wasn't until Xavier came over and sat next to me. I gave him a quick glance before looking back at the dance floor.
"He cares about you..." I heard him say as the music changed to a slower country beat.
"Huh?" I looked at him. Who was he talking about?
"Alejandro, I knew-I always knew there was something between you two. I never truly believed him when he said he saw you as a sister. I wanted you to have two brothers looking at for you. When I saw the video of you grinding at him, I was furious, but at the same time I finally understood I can't keep pretending like there isn't some type of spark between you guys."
I turned to look back at Alejandro who was line dancing with Mindy, laughing at how she could barely move around in her mermaid dress. Was there really a spark between us?
"I don't think Alejandro and I could ever be something. I like Lucas remember?"
He chuckled, giving me a small eye-roll. "Regardless, if you ever want to date Alejandro, go for it. I know he'll treat you good."
I gave him a confused look. "I thought legends never change? Once a fuckboy-always a fuckboy."
He shrugged. "People change, for the right person. Believe me." He smirked.
I kept my eyes locked at Ale, at the same time I looked his way he locked eyes with me. He flashed me a grin.
I am so sorry for the sudden slow updates, college finals got the best of me and I spent most of my time studying and sleeping lol.
I have a big announcement that is not related to this story but I mentioned how UNDER HER REIGN was going to be a spin-off of Adalyn and Sebastian son but I decided not to do that at all. I don't like the idea. I have been working on a new story plot fo under her reign. A lot of time and effort have gone into this new book and I want you guys to give me your honest opinion. I haven't felt this excited for a new story since TTP. I will be posting the first chapter in a little while. I need to re-read and make any corrections.
With all that said, I will be posting as frequent as I can:)
