His lips felt rough against mine, almost as if my lips knew his weren't meant to touch mine. I was living my hopeless romantic fantasy: the high school girl finally got the college guy. Instead of enjoying the precious moment, my brain decides to continue to blabber about how Alejandro's lips felt soft, plumped, perfect against mine. I don't know how I could even register these thoughts since when we kissed I was drunk.
I broke off the kiss, quickly getting up from the bench. "I have to get inside. My mom is probably waiting for me." I confessed. She wasn't. She's probably in the living room finish off the center pieces for the tables.
Lucas stood up and nodded. "Yeah, I better head out it's pretty late now. I'll see you Saturday." He leaned forward giving me a quick peck. "God, I won't be able to stop kissing now I know you're my girlfriend."
I rolled my eyes. "Whatever."
I opened the door and walked inside. The moment I locked the door, my mom hollered from across the house.
"Yeah! It's me." I yelled back.
"I'm in the dinning room, come here for a second." She hollered. I listened and as soon as I entered the room, a huge grin spread on my lips. I threw my hands around my Aunt Vivian and squealed in pure delight.
I hadn't seen her since last year in March when she was able to come and see me compete in barrel racing. She's a travel nurse and majority of the time she is out of town. I wasn't sure if she was going to be able to make it to my party since she had asked for vacation time last year and the party didn't even happen. I was afraid she wouldn't be able to make it.
"Seriously, was on earth is your mom feeding you?" She chuckled. "You're growing and growing!" I rolled my eyes. I had always been tall, I suppose I get the height from my father. My mom is around my Aunt Vivian height so I didn't get it from her.
"When did you make it in?" I asked her.
"This afternoon. I got a week and a half off so I'm going to enjoy it."
"That's good." I smiled.
"You're probably going to miss school tomorrow. You have to go tyron your dress for the last time, to make sure you it fits well."
I nodded. "That's fine. I 'll ask Demi to send me the notes from the classes I'll miss."
"Alright."
"I'm going to head to bed. It's been a long day." I confessed tiredly.
"Alright, good night sweetheart." My mom said.
"Goodnight, Julie." Aunt Vivian responded.
My stomach turned into a small knot as the lady started zipping up my dress. These last few weeks have been rough on me and with my slow relapse coming back, I've been eating more than I do. The fear of my dress not fitting properly crept into my mind and I was afraid this would cause my mom to have a total meltdown. The zipper glided up to my mid-back without problems. A huge sigh of relief escaped my lips.
I turned around and Aunt Vivian had a huge grin plastered on her face. "You looks so gorgeous. The dress is so beautiful." She said grabbing the back of the train.
Last year when I picked out my dress I had gotten a red princess gown. I thought it was breath taking until I had another look at it a few months later. The color and the dress weren't appealing to me anymore. I don't know what I was thinking when I picked out the dress but it didn't suit me anymore. I talked to my mom about it and she decided I could pick another dress. Although Aunt Vivian is hardly around, I had to call her and ask for help. She's always up to date on the trends and she sent me the link of this beautiful royal blue dress with a lace front. I'm not a big fan of the color but the train the dress had won me over. My mom wasn't on board about ordering the dress for me since she wanted to see me in a ballgown, but I managed to convince her the dress seemed outdated for me now. Luckily, the store lady helped me sway her into agreeing for me to get it.
"I know since the moment I saw it on the runway, you were going to look gorgeous in it." She smiled.
"It's a very elegant dress. It suits you for your day, sweetie." My mom spoke up. Our eyes meet and she gleamed with pure happiness.
"Thank you, momma."
"So everything feels and looks good right?" The lady asked us for the last time.
I nodded. "Yes, I'll take it home today."
Once the lady zipped up the dress into a black bag and my mom gave the last payment for it, we left the store. Aunt Vivian had to go look for a dress so we went to the stores around the square. By the time she ended finding a dress she liked it was nearly eight at night. We had been out at the stores for nearly six hours. My feet were killing me, I was starving, and I wanted my bed.
When we arrived home, the smell of pepperoni pizza invaded my nostrils. I rushed to the kitchen to fine my dad, Xavier, Alejandro digging in a box o pizza. A let out a small sigh and grabbed a slice without saying a word to them.
"Hi, how are you?" My dad greeted me with a small smirk.
I smiled, embarrassedly. "Sorry, Aunt Vivian and mom starved me all day." I cried.
"We ate Chinese like four hours ago!" Aunt Vivian snapped, giving me a worried look.
"I know but I have to have my three proper meals." I protested. "If not then I'll be eating really late at night."
Alejandro and Xavier burst into laughter. "You don't want to hear her eating in the middle of the night, she sounds like a vacuum sucking everything up." Alejandro snorted.
My dad shot him a glare. Alejandro quickly stopped laughing. "I mean Xavier says she sound like a vacuum I wouldn't know."
I laughed quietly. I enjoy seeing Alejandro still freak out when my dad glares at him when he sees things about me. My dad likes to mess with him a lot. I don't know how Ale hasn't catch on.
"Food is life." I shrugged.
Aunt Vivian rolled her eyes. "You probably should watch out what you eat until your party. You don't want to be bloated."
I swallowed the food in my mouth and lowered my half-eaten pizza on my plate. Alejandro stared at me attentively, waiting for me to say something. She was right though, I should be watching what I am eating. I've already ate a bunch of junk food these last few weeks.
"You're right." I told her. "I'm just going to go shower and head to bed." I excused myself and walked out the kitchen.
"Jules." I heard Alejandro say.
"yeah?" I said turning around to meet his gaze.
"Don't listen to her. Eat what you want." He said quietly so only I could be the only one hearing him. "You've been doing great. You're eating healthy and in portions. Your dress fitted today and it will fit on Saturday if you eat regularly."
"I've eaten bad plus with the luck I have been having all I need is for me to be eating the way I have been and the dress doesn't fit Saturday." I chuckled.
He rolled his eyes. "Seriously?"
"Joking. I'll ignore what Aunt Vivian said."
He grinned. "Good. Are you up for some frozen yogurt? I've been craving it. Lugi's should still be open." He raised his eyebrow.
I licked my lips and nodded. "Let's go."
Alejandro probably thinks everything he says to me goes from one ear to the other, but I heard him loud and clear tonight. He's watching out for me and I find that sweet.
He cares about me.
(This chapter was more of a filler but I promise the next chapter will be long and juicy;) )
